Now as with just about every cosworth ive ever bought the pictures look stunning but in reality it needs work.
for starters the rust is starting to creep up on it in a few areas. bottom of rear back arch, drivers side door and top of drivers side sill, very bottom of boot (ill get pics) i also dont like the way the skirts fit, not nice at all which is possibly why the paint has rubbed through and rust is starting to appear
it goes in today for paintwork to be done and ill talk to him about skirts fitting properly so hopefully that will be a distant memory.
next up will be the engine, its quite and starts on the button with no slap or tapping so im please, also no smoke on or off boost. However the iscv is unplugged like so many obviously because no one has set the car up properly. there is also some extra wiring to the front injector, god knows what that is but i dont like it so will get sorted.
The car will be going straight from the paintshop to my tuner for full setup and once over.
i also have a list of parts i need.
Centre console with no holes.
Doorcards in cloth preferably or ill be looking for leather at the right price.
ambers or clears for the sides, front ones can stay as is i think
boot plastics especially the one the boot shuts on to as its in shocking condition and just falls off lol.
boot carpet cover for spare wheel, spare wheel and all fixings etc.
ill be removing rear strut brace as its just in the way and makes the boot look terrible. ill replace it with a single bar chrome one if one comes up.
ill grab a load of pictures when im back at the car but safe to say it needs tidying up.
Ill also be spending some time powdercoating some bits under the bonnet.
It drove faultless though for the 200 miles and certainly goes ok once the boost arrives, didnt want to drive it hard though until the Joe has a good look at it.
anyway onwards and upwards, plenty of work to do!

oh its definitely had some cash spent on it. as Mike Brewer says its right on the edge lol and needs bringing back.
its not horrible by any means but there are little things that will make it a much better car and i cant start modifying until its atleast where it should be. to start with.
Jacking points are all crushed too but aint they all!

i found it is 49.99 on the net and basically the cheapest worst alarm you could possibly buy and is causing me nothing but trouble so i have a guy coming tommorow to fit a proper top notch sigma alarm!

nah its fine in all the other areas..
Alarm booked in for 8am tommorow, gonna have a sigma or toad but sigma looks the better alarm.
im also gonna have the bumper painted too i think cause its not a nice job and looks like theres plenty of filler in there!
im also going to repair and matt black the splitter, then fit it on there properly so it all fits. Plenty of work to do but beleive me it will be a much nicer car in the end, for the most part the paintwork is nice its just the bits ive pointed out, ill try and get some pics during the paint process.

Alarm all fitted, Top Guy that did it.
He has also managed to put the program keypad right over the hole in the centre console which is good as i dont need to find a centre console.
Its not ideal but its a better option that the hole
Ill post some pics later.

you wanna see the oil leak on it aswell! and what sounds like the exhaust trying to beat its way through the underside of the car!
anyway that will all be sorted and the grin factor from the first drive of it today made it all worth it, goes so much better 2wd so im afraid thats how its staying!
its going straight from the paintshop to the tuner hopefully monday latest, ive also asked the painter to take a load of pics to update the thread!

Probably the first cossie ive had that dont smoke though! Atall... so a first time for everything, although a bit of black smoke normally puts my mind at ease lol. before Joe has looked at it anyway, he puts my mind at ease no matter what lol.

Thanks mate, yeah the first drive gave it some real stick and it goes and handles very well. Just a case of getting it to start properly and get it set up, sort oil leaks, handbrake, and knocking noise from underneath though.

Quick update.
Nothign special just thought i would tell you about a touch ive had!
been looking for badges for a while and cant find the escort one or especially the RS one anywhere.
Managed to buy a parcel of genuine brand new badges for a very good price, 1 cosworth 1 escort and 3 RS badges all genuine ford in the wrapper!
anyway my orage arch repeaters are here and so are my genuine ford mats.
Painter is seriously dragging his heels so its all a bit of a go slow at the moment, Also looking at Pauls Old MOS as just a second set of wheels, maybe get them refurbed in gold but im not too sure yet

And what do you mean the correct way? Are you saying I didnt do things in the correct way? I am pretty sure all the work I had done to the car was the best it could be. All parts replaced with brand new top of the range parts no expense spared. The car was present for sale as she was. I did not hide anything. The car.was.checked over by Rob and he was happy to pay the money for the car which might I add was the cheapest genuine Escort RS Cosworth for sale at the time. Some people must forget these cars are 18 plus years old now. If you have something to say drop me a PM. Do not slate me on an open forum.
