i have no problem with the condition that the car was in and got a fair deal IMO.

If im honest i could have done without the alarm issues but maybe they were just bad luck, on an escos of this price i do expect issues, in all honesty the rust was more than described before setting off but after travelling that far i still could have walked away and didn't so that says enough i suppose.

thanks for the shout Tony and i do see what your saying but overall im happy. my bank manager isn't but he never is anyway when i buy one of these as everyone that knows me will vouch for!

All parts replaced with brand new top of the range parts no expense spared. The car was present for sale as she was. I did not hide anything. The car.was.checked over by Rob and he was happy to pay the money for the car which might I add was the cheapest genuine Escort RS Cosworth for sale at the time. Some people must forget these cars are 18 plus years old now. If you have something to say drop me a PM. Do not slate me on an open forum.
The new owner is content so thats that, but you did make lite of the fact new owner is having minor rust and alarm issues and as you pisted that on the tumbleweed rsoc forum its easy to read as it is here

Well a small update,

The sideskirts are off and it has quickly become apparent why they didn't fit properly and were buldging in a lot of places, Half the clips are missing and the other half are now broken.

So Ł70 quid down at fords and they are on order.

good news is that there is next to no rust down there, the one visible bit is literally the size of a 5pence piece. back arches are lovely etc. The handbrake has all been adjusted and the exhaust is whats causing all the banging which I will get my tuner to sort out.

so once the sideskirts are back on atleast they will fit, 70 quid though on 16 little plastic clips and some plastic lugs hurts! that's for sure!

the underside is also fine, I would question the sump leaking and say its more like something to do with the gearbox or the rear engine seal but once again I will find that out pretty soon. quite tidy under there considering the age but the jacking points are knackered as always and could do with some areas rubbing back and re painting.

Just so people are aware of my comment on the RSOC... This is it

Cheers Alex, it got the best of everything under my ownership which should put it in good shape to be worked on. The new owner is getting the small amount of rust it had sorted and a new alarm by the sounds of it. The engine etc is sweet as a nut on that car and the body work is in pretty good shape too. But for me was costing too much to keep going. I had lost the faith in the car and didn't trust it to get me to and from places. I was praying it got the new owner home as it was a 4 hour drive. It did and was faultless but in my head I always think the worse.

Looks clean under the side skirts Rob. I knew the shell was good as they guy who did the conversion had it stripped right out and said it was a really good shell.

How is it looking now?

Where is the exhaust banging?

Has it got a 2wd or 4wd down pipe?

The exhaust is touching the Anti Roll Bar. If you loosen off the ARB and put a small dent in the exhaust it will stop it. Its something to do with the gearbox apparently, means the exhaust has to run a bit further out and causes it to knock slightly.

It is a 4x4 Mongoose exhaust, not sure what the downpipe is on the car. I know part of it is 2wd and part is 4x4, apparently is a better setup. No idea... I didnt build it

The noise will be fixed no problem, the down pipe does seem to come out too far but with a bit of adjustment and maybe even a bit if a dent as you say I'm sure it will be fine.

If not I have an exhaust guy who will do something for me.

It's bits like this what I just can't leave, no offence to you booner but the car has lots of niggly bits that I couldn't live without sorting. The car will drive and feel so much better when things like that are done.

All these bits add up but I'm still not upto the money you allowed me off the car so I'm still happy. I'm nearly there though lol, I'm sure the tuner will push me over that's for sure as there seems to be multiple oil leaks.

On a positive note the handbrake cable is sorted.

I was trying to fix all the little bits but kept getting hit with big ones haha
You have a decent amount of cash in the kitty to sort the little bits mate.

You staying with RWD? I found it much more fun

I would double check with Ford mate, I have ordered parts from them for other cars and been told two weeks later they got it wrong and they no longer sell the part.

Looks solid under the skirts , I would check with ford as I'm sure either the fronT or rear clips are no longer available. One of the guys over on the escort site was actually having them remade.

its the rear clips that are unavailable and the front ones apparently fit the rear anyway, they are very slightly different but can be used.

ive spoke to ford and they assure me they are available. ive even paid for them. just waiting on them coming in so they say.

small update,

Genuine mats have arrived, with full badge set for rear and ambers for sides.

car is all in primer and waiting to be painted but the clips still havent arrived, fords have placed another order today.

once the car is back from painters im going to create a list of things to be done but so far its

1. Oil Leaks (multiple)
2. Speedo not working
3. Oil pressure just goes right to the top.
4. Engine set up so that ISCV can actually be plugged in letting it start properly.
5. Bay tidy up and powdercoat of many items.
6. Interior issue go leather or not as doorcards look to be nearly impossible to find
7. Exhaust adjustment/change and toidy up the bent endpiece
8. tidy up boot to make look presentable
9. MORE POWER!

ill add to this list as i go but theres a few things to do already

Bits are finally in and the painter is telling me I will be able to pick up tomorrow, seen it with some of it painted and looks a good job.

once I get it home cleaned and polished ill be much happier. then it can get over to the tuners.

had my eyes on Monte Reps but a bit of trouble getting them, also been trying to do a deal on some leather, which I really don't want hence me sticking to my guns on price but I don't think im ever gonna find door cards so leathers the only way.

also got my tickets and stand pass for ford fair, so hopefully that will be a good day, get to meet a few more of you too.

Rust and silly little problems on a car are an arse and can be dis heartening!
But at the end of the day if your keeping the car working through all the bits yourself at least your no at the end of it its a good solid car and its done right!

Thanks mate

Well the car is back and the sideskirts are on there a lot better, still not perfect but pretty good.

paintwork is pretty good, for the price its excellent so im not complaining, splitter looks good too.

Horrible to drive though, how the previous owner could drive this about with the exhaust the way it is god knows. im embarrassed the noise it makes! lol I cant get it over to tuner until weds/thurs though as im away so it will have to sit in the garage for a bit.

splitter looks so much better in my opinion.

can anyone tell me what exhaust is on this car?

i am trying to remember what it looked like underneath and the front pipe definitely went down on the drivers side obviously then went under the gearbox and backwards. the front was like 2 small pipes, could this be a standard front part?

ive been looking at exhausts as this one touches at the front far too much, seems in completely the wrong place, any advice would be great, if need be i will buy a second hand mongoose or something, ive seen a a mongoose and its 1 massive pipe down and back, no crossing at gear box and no small twin pipes.

Have you not got a local powerflow or some one like that? Sounds as if it would be far better to take it some wear with your down pipe and rear box and get the middle made on the car!

At least that way you will no it fits right plus if its too loud you can get them to put another box in the middle maybe even v band each end so its not a cunt to take off in the future as well

thing is the rear is dented anyway and its not very loud etc, the way it splits into 2 doesnt seem to look like how the mongoose exhaust goes so im wondering if its worth just buying a proper exhaust.

https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=i&rc...75203506155816

seems like a lot of small piping lol!!

and its the front corner that hitting, maybe he could cop the twin pipes and take an inch or so out.

I'd take the rwd drive down pipe and just get the rest made on the car and do away with all that twin pipe shit to be honest be much simpler that's how most end up I bet be like a sierra system then one pipe front to back with 1 or 2 silencers in it depending how loud you want it

Very tidy, sounds to me like someone accidentally jacked up the exhaust and its moved over? The magnex looks good but would pay to hunt for a better price

Like I said in a previous post, it sounds like its got a 4x4 down pipe with is no good with the 2wd box. It fools the anti roll bar.

Take a pic if you can and sure one of us will tell you the problem.

Car looks spot on .
