Default help needed coilovers!

rebuilding my escort mk4 se500 and want to put coilovers on her, but have been told i need to strengthen the turrets!! has anyone gone this route, and if so can you point me in the right direction? many thanks

right i found the info i was looking for on fitting but what spring rates are people using, bearing in mind virtually mainly driving on the roads!

be worst mistake in your life putting coil overs on ive got a mk3 turbo cabby and got spax adjustables on scuttle shakes unreal ride is awful

but it's a route i gotta go down, i'm a stubborn bas**rd! lol and always go the wrong route but stick with it :s
only blessing will be the car won't get probably see more than 1k a year as it's a fourth vehicle!

Not all coilovers are rock hard, my Eibachs are fine for road use. Get ones made for road use from a good manufacturer. I don't know if AP do anything for your car but their Focus ones have great ride quality and are still firm enough to improve cornering.

I should think it was practically running on the bump stops as that's what most people use them for.
Properly set up coilovers with the right springs rates are fine for road use.

Edit to say, you're best of to speak to whoever is supplying your coilovers, they'll be able to give you advice on springs rates etc.

mines not on coilovers if youve read the thread earlier mines on koni adjustables never said in any of my replies mines on coil overs
