Default UPDATE

Well progress has been slow as work is mental again and to be honest I had lost abit of love for it due to possibly buying a new house and there still being a lot to do but after seeing the ford fair pics I wanna get on it again now

The engine has now been dropped off to the guy who is building it for me and really looking forward to seeing it built.

I have now stripped all the doors, tailgate, bumpers etc ready to go to the bodyshop along with the car which will be back on its wheels in a few weeks! I haven't found a bodyshop as all the guys I know haven't got an oven and I want it to be spot on so if anyone knows anyone let me know

fair play rich it will look mint when it's finished

just one thing have you tried fitting your fuse box in the bulkhead ???

see the later 3door motorsport shells are fitted with the saff bulkhead which means your fuse box will face forward and not sideways like the original 3dr

if it fits normal then you will have the early motorsport shell

Cheers guys.

Yes Paul did explain the difference regards the fusebox, my 3 door one dosent fit properly due to the saff bulkhead as mentioned so I will get a saff outer casing and sit my fuse board inside it

No worries - glad to see the project is moving forward. There were a number of later motorsport shells as Marco says, and some the panels were saff based by then. Yours will most likely have the lower towing eye at the back for example, so if you are fussy you might want to swap those over before it goes to paint possibly?

I know what it is like mate, although my work involved sorting an old motorsport shell out before putting it all back together. Luckily I have an understanding missus when it came to storage and didn't need a shed though... not hijacking your thread, just want you to have faith mate

Default Small Update

Hi all

Only a small update as work has been manic but calming down abit now and I intend to crack on with the 3dr!

It is ready to go for paint now as everything is stripped but didn't want to have it done due to wheel choice incase I had to roll arches, trim kit etc.

I have just ordered a set of 18" calibre vintage which I am going to have an imitation centrelock made in alloy to go on the centre cover that hides the 4 bolts
I am also having the middle painted gold as I like the gold on white look with the 3dr's.

Being as its on coilovers I intend to have the tyres level with the arches and personally think this will look the bollocks, I looked into gen centrelocks but they aint cheep.

I have bought an arch roller so I can mod it all before its all painted but will post pic of rims once done.

Cheers all

I agree about tyres level with the arches, that's what I did on mine.
I was gona go with 18's but bottled it as I wasn't sure they would fit.
Keep up the good work mate it will be worth it in the end.

good to see your back on with it rich

personally i wouldnt have gone 18,s on it as they are skitty enough on the road mate .a 17x8 would be better for the allround driving expierience .

I really wanted to go 17s but fancied something abit different and being as this is probably going to end up never getting used once finished I thought at least it would look pretty .

I will save the 17s for the track car

i agree with you rich ,if they were all the same it would get boring very quickly

just be careful you get the shade of gold right mate ,as it will make or break the wheels

thats why i will only put comps on mine

I wanted cxn's originally but as you know there like rocking horse shite.

Regarding the gold centres im going for a lighter shade of gold as don't want them to stand out like a sore thumb!

Cheers guys. I would have loved centre locks but cant justify it so these were the closest I could find. I have fitted my camber shims, spacers and altered the suspension now so looks a lot better.

Goes in for paint in Jan and will also have the engine back by then More PICS soon.

Cheers guys. No real updates at the minute she's on hold as my planning permission has been granted on my new place so busy with that at present.

Still intend to have it painted shortly but need my new garage finished so I can put it strait in there.

Still not got my engine back yet but there isn't one part of it that's not brand new now lol
