Escort Thundersaloon rebuild and return to life....
I know a few people on here have an x-thundersaloon race car and so I thought I would share this build. It is being stripped back to bare and rebuilt up with a new JG 700+BHP engine, along with a new bulk head, paint etc (the last guy to fab the bulkhead did shockingly sh#t job)
Car was taken off the track after its last race, enginer removed to be fitted into a race car/kit car and the shell was sold where it sat in a garge for 14/15years. The engine was purchased about 8/9 years ago and even turned over
Spec is 14.5 wide tyres, metro 6R4 back end which bolts to the cage, MASSIVE undrfloor reserve tank and m-sport bag tank, mag hubs all round, 909 rack and more.
The aim is to have this on the track at ford fair next year
First job was to wash off years of gargae crap lol...

Its a GRP/Kevlar kit afaik, the car did run a Jag XJ220 engine, serious bit of kit although I don't think it actually done very well.

All panels are Kevlar but I have all the moulds and thinking of going carbon. Depends on costs tho.
Will get a little more history on the car soon.

some work done today
Fuel tank removed and the the tank tank housing re-sealed.
The alloy tank is the second tank mounted to the underside, and the notch is for the prop shaft. lol

Slightly worrying how the fuel tank setup had been done.
I bet that diff has hard a hard life with those tyres and the old engine !
Keep the updates coming, really interesting car.

Dave Motterham was Tyndalls mechanic, he co drives rally's still, im sure he was with Nigel Drew in an Impreza earlier this year. I'm sure he would be interested in knowing that this was being put back together..
