This project will commence in a week, and be ready for heavy updates, as it's getting a very quick, thorough restoration, with some very secret mods...

Look forward to new pics.

I'll be starting a build thread on my sons Mini next month.

I did purchase him a shell which is solid but only a shell with doors/boot/windows etc but also fibreglass roof.

I have been given a Mini which has been sat 6 years in a friends garage, going to collect end of July, been sat since she stopped using it as her daily, she can't tell me much about it as she isn't into cars so hopefully I'll be surprised.

Lucky getting a free mini!

And there will be plenty of pics too haha

I sold a shell recently, the red one. Did tons of welding, and didnt need much more, and it got cut up for a panel and scrapped

And I shall watch his mini too.

And an update at long last

Boring welding ones for 2 weeks. Then I rebuild the rear suspension and front suspension, and wham bam, it all becomes a rolling shell

I did 2 patches, but the camera is playing up, so only got the pic of before the patches, and the left one

After 4 months from not welding, it's ok, but it looks disgraceful

Cba grinding it down though, as once I can insure a sierra, I'm selling it

Done both sides, bare metalled, primed, and sealed the shock mounts which were relatively mint, and nolted them on. Then sealed round them, so no water can get in and do the same again. Also sealed, and primed the rear valence, and did some more floor work

Half the panels needed ordered, Ł306 But should see this rolling by next sunday

White

Blue

Quite hard lol

If I like it, plans are cage it, 13x8 alley cats, bucket seats, harnesses, wide arches, a decent sound system, straight cut box and jack knife drop gears, a k series 16v head, with a 1380 overbore, throttle bodies, and stainless centre exit exhaust.

A few blue lovers. Just gotta find out what colour blue that is, and I think we have a winner to be honest.

Black was a thought, but for a daily, probably too difficult to keep it looking clean

i like all 3, equally as much tbh for different reasons, so wanted others to kinda vote which looks nicer. Blue isnt common, so is nice in the way it's idfferent, and it looks really nice not in your face etc

Cheers, yeah I did consider BRG quite hard, but decided against it as it will cost more than a solid colour to paint, and this is very shoe string budget

Update, 90% ready, just got to do a lot of weld dressing, and painting various bits, as well as a tiny slither patch, and I will weld the outer sill on. All prep now.

Since last time, I've:

Welded the new floor pan section in,
replaced the rear heel board, and various panels around that area,
Replaced the doorstep
welded the flitch to the floor and surrounding areas to stop water getting in,
A small section of the rear arch has been welded

And I'm currently thinking of a Gloss black mini, and lots of chrome... MMM

A bugger to keep clean, but looks sooooooooo good!
