jesus, nearly a month since my last update!

mostly because its rained.

and rained, and fooking rained!

very pissed off with it now, its getting soooo tedious!

well, since the last post tho we have shoveled 20 ton of scalpings all around, whacked it down and 2 weeks ago friday i had the garage floor base delivered. but they fucked up and delivered a sand/cement screed!

the driver was either going to dump the shit in the garage, or on the drive so i opted for the garage. if it proves to be no good it will have to come up at a later date, but for now it will do!

its very smooth tho lol

and today has been the firt dry day forecast in the last weeks, so on sat we got the dpm down and celotex laid. the it rained sat night, sunday and yesterday

but as said, today was dry, so on the phone to about 7 concrete places today and managed to find one that could deliver today - Hanson. bugger turned up an hour late and i had ordered 2.5m3 of cement, that of course arrived on an 8 meter wagon - the biggest you can get...

result is the driveway, that was already a bit churned up was destroyed, and so was part of the pavement... but we got the concrete in! what joy!!!

and about 2 mins after i came in, one of the fooking cats appeared from nowhere and walked accross the workshop floor! fucking little cunt!

so, some pics.

got the lad out helping to move the scalps lol. he had fun anyway

garage ready to go

screed not concrete garage floor base...

workshop floor complete with cat prints

and part of the rear bit done, its the lounge floor and part of the dinig room floor.

we opted to do it in stages to make sure we got a good finish, glad we did as it would have been very difficult to do it all in one hit.

so there we go, will try and get the rest of the concrete in on thursday but guess what....

its forecast fucking rain again!

Another update...

got the last bit of concrete in friday morning, then after it was all smooth it cunted it down in a 10 min downpour and has fucked it, its all rough now
upside is that it will be tiled anyway so major drama!

so.... the brickies started yesterday and have been pretty busy by the looks of things!

its shot up now, and next weekend shoud see it ready for the flat roof at least!

gotta buy another load of blocks etc now lol

8am yesterday it was just concrete base, and as of tonight it looks like this!!

very happy now, as some major progress has been made and at long last we have some decent weather!

cheers bud will do, managed to sort most of the materials for delivery this week, as the builders will be back this weekend. blocks, therms, sand and cement were no issue, but the bastid catnics!

ordered them through build-it and they were half the price than id been quoted from travis perkins, even with a trade discount they wanted nigh on Ł700

build-it were Ł375... had a call today, they cant deliver till mid next week. hmm no good..

managed to source all from the matching brick company that i had ordered all the bricks and blocks from for delivery this week, except the heavy duty catnic for the garage. so thats still on order from build it, th rest i should have by friday.

so more pics after the weekend!!

built-it are good and cheap, but i have found that you need to order stuff well over a week in advance. best prices for celotex too, but again, that took longer than stated for delivery.

now looks like this!

lintel for the garage should be here tomoz, then gav will be back to fit that and build the pier on thursday

and the rear part ready for the flat roof

had a quote back from the carps, come it at just over 10k and he cocked the quote up, i thought it was for everything to do a complete roof, but where he put 'price does include' it should have read 'price does not include' ffs, so it needs another 5k on top of his quote...

might look into building the flat roof myself!

Hi mark, the main flat roof is 4m x 10m so 40 sq m
the dormer roofs are 1.5m x 5.5m
and then there is the gable, i think thats about 3m wide
of course they have to construct the new dormers, and fit the RSJ and padstones etc

been looking into doing the flat roof myself, doesnt look particularly difficult, but if i do a warm deck like the building inspector wants, then thats Ł1631 JUST for the celotex insulation.

i reckon Ł350 for the marine ply for the deck, and Ł470 for joists, then the EPDM i have priced up is Ł1500 for all flat roofs

so we are at 4k for materials already, not including the materials for the first floor joists, gable or dormer construction...

i will probably have a go the felt and batton, and nailing down the tiles too lol

oh, its also cost 12k all in to get to where we are now, thats including all the costs for the architect, council fees and planning etc.

so i kind of begrudge paying out Ł15k just for the roof

No need for marine ply on the roof.

Also was there anyway to put a proper roof on rather than flat? They are the devils work!

unfortunatly not mate, if you look at the plans on page 1 then you will see the dormers with windows aboe the flat, so cant really have a pitched roof.

going to use EPDM on them also as that has a 30 year life

had another carp round tonight for a quote, so hopefully in a couple of days ill have another price to compare with. it is a big job tho

I paid just over 1K in labour for two dormers, and the full roof, which is a hip and a T from the existing roof, the timber was circa Ł4k, roof tiles Ł1k, felt, Ł400 plus nails/screw/soffits/fascias etc i reckon no more than 9k all in.

my roof is an L shape the long bit is 8m x 6m, the short bit 3.5 x3.5m.

I was trying to find some pics on this computer but can't. I remember the roof was about or a little bit more than the groundworks/blocks.

fair enough then mark, i shall see what the guy says then.

in another quote i hade supply materials build main flat roof was Ł1450, dormers Ł850 for both, but there was no price on the gable so say 2k max

then its felt batton and tile, and the EPDM is Ł1600 for all flat roofs. to do a warm deck on them its Ł1638 just for the insulation

so it does soon add up!

then there is the steels and fitting them thats another say Ł1500

so thats 10k just for that...

I paid approx Ł600 for the steel in my house, and 900 for the steel in my workshop

had a busy day today... cleared our bedroom out yesterday and made a start on gutting it...

forgot to take pics before i started so bed frame has already gone, and started on the wardrobes

carpet gone

err

nothing a lick of paint wont sort lol

then after that i made a start on removing the roof tiles... then it started to rain and as the felt was fucked, i had to cover it sharpish!

luckily i had a sheet of dpc lying about that was exactly the right size for the removed tiles!!

and its still cunting it down now!
