Mercedes coupe project
Hi, i'm new on here but have used the site plenty of times for info as have always been into fords.
I know it isnt a ford, but i thought id post this project on here to see if anyone is interested as i always find everyone to be really knowledgeable.
Its a 1993 mercedes 220 pillarless coupe. Bought it for a few hundred with the intention of using it for a bit of fun, take it to track days and maybe see if it'll drift .
Plans are: Brakes - Looking at just performance discs and pads.
Suspension - Difficult to find apparently, so it'll probably be fixed dampers + springs.
Interior - Already stripped out + got some cheap buckets
Fix up bodywork
Then...the engine and magnificent auto box. Looked at some merc engines but most of the good ones are either auto or ££s. So im going a bit different. My options are:
Ford v8 with cossie gearbox as the engine bay is massive, plus carbs means less nasty wiring and ive already found somewhere that sells them quite cheap.
Saab turbo on omega v6 gearbox.
Or volvo turbo engine + box.
I'm leaving the engine until last so got plenty of time to decide.
Will post pics when i figure out how.

£100 ebay bargain Borbet C's
Don't need that crap.
Amazingly, it is solid underneath, surface rust here and there, then i took the cladding off and found this gem. Why the f*ck they think making a place to trap wet mud and salt on the side of a car is a good idea i dont know. Hopefully i can cut a panel out of a good one and weld it in...maybe...
