roll over spit
Hi guys
I'm looking at getting a roll over spit for a mk4 escort project, and was wondering if anyone had any plans plans or cutting list to make one, as I dont really want to spend huge amounts when I can make my own a lot cheaper.
cheers For any usefull info

rite couple sizes for you
the round tube is 4inchs long both small tube and big tube
big tube 2inch wide
small tube 1 1/2 wide
1 1/2 box section ,
legs 46 inches long
feet on the frame are 24inches long
the smaller tube has a nut and washer welded in so you can lock it off

Rock Out!!
Here's a couple of mine on the spit I made for her.
The holes in the sides of the main frame mean the centre of gravity can be adjusted to suit.
So if the engine or gearbox below, or bonnet and hatch up top,
were still on, the spit still turns over with one hand and cant spin wildly round.

.
I use 2 of these
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Engine-Sta...item4161d49927
They work a treat, i bought them new from Machine Mart, was a while back, but i'm sure they were £50 each.
I did end up cuting the upright in half to make them taller as my Mk4 escort wouldn't go right over.

here is the one my mate got made , i have used it more than him, and he ended up giveing it to me .
its very good as its fitted with rams at both ends so a shell can be lifted of a set of axel stands from a low hight , and then lifted up to a hight that it can then be turned over .its also on wheels so the shell can be moved around the garage . the end that fits into the chassi is also adjustable ..
thanks steven

you may well have this sorted now but i made 1 a while back for my project:
from memory the main T`s at each end are 80x80x6mm thick box..
the pins are 40mm bar..
the box section actually fitted to the shell is 40x60x3mm thick (i think)
the wheels came from 1 of those BIG wheelie bins found in industrial estates.. they use a 13mm nut and bolt and can be removed very quickly in the middle of the night - if you struggle to find somewhere that sell them hahahah
the bar under the car is just 50x50x3 box section... the locking disc was done at a local laser cutters, 10mm steel and they charged £20 to cut it with all the locating holes..
