New project for me story goes i started going out with my current partner around 1 year ago and when i was speaking to her mum one night i confessed my love for rusty fords lol she then tells me shes got a 2.8 special capri that shes owned for about 15 years and if i wanted it to restore and drive then i was welcome to do so went up today to the shed its been stored in and had a nosey so i know what im up against! took a couple of pics and im planning on getting it down to my garage over the next few weeks to start on her! my brother is a spray painter so hes gonna paint it for me and il do all the welding! always wanted one and now ive got one!
The pics:
fair play not every day you stumble across one of these not sure its a special though they all had half leather ,seven spokes and the all important l.s.d.
Dont have a clue about capris so its all a learning curve for me! Its needing a lot of work but thats the way i like it!! Keeps me busy when im home from offshore!

me old man has a 2.8i special with a 24v in it,
your cappa looks like a normal 2.8i, nothing wrong with that though keep us posted on what happens with it
thats an early ish one, the very early ones were 4 speeds, the pepperpot alloys and cloth trim are correct for the year.
does look like it's been stored on the damp tho
These are great cars any plans. looks like a early 2.8 not a special but still cool. Any plans in mind for it ? The shell doesn't look to bad good luck with it.
Lucky man having that given too u! It's a very early 5 speed judging by the interior and stripes. The 4 speeds had check interior and the injection wing badge are part of the stripe.
My dad had loads when I was growing up, join up on www.capripower.co.uk loads of info and parts over on there.
Cheers for the info lads! Yeah its needing a lot of work but im up for the task! My brother works for bmw as a spray painter so the finish will be like all the other jobs hes done for me in the past, pristine!! Its obviously going to require some welding but after having a few rusty escorts its not a problem the plans are to get it back to its best and original!!
I wanted a capri as my first car when i was 17! went and seen a guy who had one local that i used to pass on my pushbike every wkd lol 1.6 laser and the guy said he was after 700 quid for it, happy days! went and asked my parents who said no because of it being rwd so i had to settle for an rs bodykitted onion with 16e leathers! roll on 11 years and a capri has found me instead of the other way round
Lol no. Ive got a e30 cossie needing the gearbox changed out, a x3ri cabbie needing put back on the road or a turbo engine fitted and a fiesta rs turbo in the garage that ive driven about 3 times. Capri is a long term project mate
