As most people said, the V12 in the Capri would be a nice project. But a stretched one with wrong dimensions wont look right!

By the look of it, you have to strech it that much, you can make it a 4door

don't mention the speeling, someone will grass you up and you'll get banned

if i was going to undertake this project i would buy a car spit first and bolt the empty capri to it

then i would go to the builders yard and buy lots of sheets of polystyrene

using these sheets, i'd make an accurate sizing of the engine and box and, by way ot trial and error, chop the capri about to make sure everything fits

then start plating stuff up, making braces, etc to hold the merc engine into the capri before moving to the rear end and seeing how the rear end was going to fit, wide arches if i was keeping the axle, or slotting in a much more capable sold rear beam type set up (for more info go to http://www.classicfordmag.co.uk/cf-f...splay.php?f=13 and ask) and then start patching stuff up to make it presentable and tidy and safe and legal and mot-able

then again, you could choose to ignore my advice because "i'm a man" or "i'm a woman and no matter how wrong i am, i'm going to do it my way because that's the way i roll" or whatever other reason you so wish

i didnt say i was gonna stretch the capri to match the LENGTH of the merc did i? i said the arches need pulling out, but the merc propshaft is gonna be a shorter one to make IT match the capri.

I do wonder how many arguments/reports/maybe even a ban are going to be caused from this thread.

I've thought about this project and I see no way it can work.
I got slated for thinking of putting a supra engine in an escort, well a skyline engine is in a cossie body and supra engine is in an escort van. (Not mine)

was going to. but i cant be assed with replacing the fine mm's i would have cut out whilst cutting out the sections! if you know what i mean,, besides, the bit of body i will be left with wont weigh that much so it easier to leave in one big peice.. the big crossmembers in the middle will weigh the most and thus give me a pivot point, just, for the A-frame hoist ive decided to do. cos its simpler.

Total waste of time, effort and bandwidth. What you propose is huge and requires demon fabrication skills, experience and equipment. Throw the towel in while you are ahead. Sell the Merc and put the money into making the capri great again. By all means change the engine for something more powerful but keep it realistic. I think most wil agree this is the most sensible thing you can do at this point. Also what is with the attitude of having to prove yourself all the time becasue it gets boring very quickly! Sincerely though good luck with it all.
