I'm not so sure myself, I am having problems getting insurance, nothing under Ł6000 yet as I'm only 18!
I have the original shitty 1600 pinto there , which I might put in to get the car on the road quicker and have a better chance of getting insured on.....
Or on the other hand, do I wait a few years to put in the bigger engine and do it all properly ??

I like it a lot. Always jealous of fresh white paint on any Sierra!
No dis-respect - but I don't see how your going to get insured sensibly on a 2 door rep even with a 1.6 in it at 18 - not for sensible money any way.
Do you drive at the moment?
Get a small 1.0 shit box to drive and get the no claims ball rolling, eventually after a few years get it on the road with the 1.6 when the premiums come down, then after a few more years you can just chuck a 2.0 pinto straight in it ( I mean legally listing it as a 2.0)
Then, what, five-six years from now you could get it moving like it will look.
Until then your going to have to either not drive it at all or put up with massive premiums for even a 1.3 pinto!
Don't worry mate we all move up the ladder in the end

Even more impressive car if i dare say so, cant get over how stright the car looks.
And at the tender age of 18 i think your making amazing progress mate so keep it up. Wish id kept my mk1 fiesta and re built that she was minty mint. Mate smashed it up though the day i sold it him!!!
Will be checking this

Yeah I'm currently a named driver on a bmw 116i it's quite reasonable
there is quite a number of people telling me just to put in a bigger engine, the insurance will be none the wiser etc......, but I wouldn't want to take the risk
Looks like il be sticking with the 1600... Anybody know what I could do to this to make it a bit more fun without having to declare mods to insurance?

Got a steering wheel today, I think it looks great, anyone know what make it is?
Also got 4 door cards, they are immaculate ... Getting a full black/blue interior to match on the 12th of December, didn't have room to take it today
Anyway, a few pics
Cheers

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
I see your point, the cheapest quote I could get was Ł6100 and that was the original 1.6 pinto!

if you were to build it up with all interior and kit etc all finished i would be willing to buy the whole rolling project off you , and fit an engine and running gear of my choice , as i really want one in white and with the capri just finished i could not face all that again

very nice shell mate. i'm impressed. i don't want to throw throw a spanner in the works as the cost of insurance is astronomical at your age but i would declare all mods. if you don't your insurance is worthless. i know of a local lad who put a 2.0 turbo tomcat engine in a 1.4 mgzr. police stopped him and checked and car was confiscated and crushed. maybe a lot over the top compared to what you're contemplating but same principal. be carefull.
Cheers

Small update...
Collected everything from the painters on Thursday, I'm really happy with the finish .
Also managed to get a full 3 door interior (good carpets and door cards) along with black trim.
Question - has anyone removed the fabric part on the Cosworth doorcards and put them into the base model ones? My cossy ones are all cracked and the base model are perfect
A few pics, I have 3 weeks off now so hopefully be better updates than of late
Does anyone know what this parcel shelf is out of? I'm thinking early mk2 sierra hatch?
Cheers
