cool, the torque to bhp ratio is low i suppose, so thats why the clutch holds up.

Yes, although the torque is still nearly double that of a standard car.

been thinking of buying a 1.6 civic sport 05 plate looks the part but no power!! and was just wondering if i would be better dropping a type r engine into it or going for a turbo conversion?? any advice?

buy a type r instead 3k will get you one these days
