Got cracking on with it today started of by building a shelter to do the spraying in
[/IMG]

And this is the inside
[/IMG]
It turned out alright.. It made it so much easyer to spray in
Started off with the front bumper undercoated it first let it dry for an hour then got out the 2500 grit wet&dry sand paper cleaned it up with pannel wipe & then went over it with the tac cloth to get any crap left on there & then started with the top coat..Sorry pic's aint great but i took them in the dark
[/IMG]

And here is the underside of the bonnet..It look's so much better in white than grey primer lol ...
[/IMG]

And a pic of the spoiler half spayed up just need lacuer..As the old spoiler is shaged..
[/IMG]

Here's a pic of what the escort look's like at the mo..
[/IMG]
But she wont look like this for much longer
And this arrived today..(Thank's payne)
[/IMG]

I will keep you all up dated with the progres as it happen's

yeah pretty sure you dont lacquer over 2k solids. just lay your coats nice and evenly, and when its fully cured buff it and it will bring the shine to it, and of course if you get drips or orange peel then wet flat that back and then buff over to bring the shine. lacquer is usually used over pearls and metallics and candy colours as it dries to a matt finish, which is then wet flatted and lacquered to add protection and shine. ill have a look for you see if there is any info

http://www.mig-welding.co.uk/colour.htm

there we go that gives some more explanation. as long as you get the layers down pretty flat then can be sanded back and buffed to gloss finish

hope that helps abit mate

its alright mate, dont want you being disapointed with the finish and wondering why! done a few bits of paint work in the past and found that 2k's always lay nice and once buffed looks as good as a lacquered metallic.

think its a commom misconception that cos you lacquer over spray cans to acheive a gloss that you should with any other colour as well, but spraying through a gun is a total different story lol. id contact the shop you got the stuff from and see if they can do you a store credit incase you need any more white or hardners. not very kool of them to lead you in the wrong direction! if you need any info on the engine/car/paint give me a shout mate always willing to help!

Looking good ,normal 2k you dont need to lacquar, unless they supply it as a base coat, but then it would spray out matt ,ready for the lacquar to gloss it
