3dr Cossie Replica - Pics of the new engine
Thought I best start a thread as had this car since March/April and have ben slowly doing things to it and collecting various parts for the rebuild.
Aim of the car is to have a nice 3dr cossie replica running a yb for track, drift and general hooliganism.
Im aiming to have this on the road for the price of a good saff and still have quite a few parts left over from my moonstone 3dr cossie which was stripped 3 years ago.
Car had been standing in the previous owners back garden for about 4 years and still hasnt been washed
Anyway here are the pics of when i got it...
There is some minor damage to the front, as when it was being transferred into this rear garden 4 years ago, the trailer had to do an emergency stop and car the rolled into the cab resulted in damaged front bumper, lightly damaged slam panel and the spare engine in the boot ended up popping the rear screen
In the garage, awaiting a raping
The spares in the car, including side skirts, various bits of loom and spare 205 pinto engine, various pinto spares including front strut brace, etc
The car sat like that for a couple of months whilst i bought a few spares and tried to make space in my other garage.
Then I started to strip the fucker down so i know what needs to be done, what bits to keep and sell, etc.
Interior will have a cage and a pair of bucket seats and nothing else, so will be selling the complete 3dr Cossie trim including all interior plastics, etc.
As its a base model you can clearly see the old blue colour these used to come in, but the car has been sprayed diamond white on the outside, doorshuts and engine bay so will be keeping it as it is for now.
The spare wheel well is in pretty good condition, although the pics show very light surface rust and it is missing a bung as it has started to rust through so will be getting that sorted at some point
The area where the rat lived and shat - nearly puked cleaning this bit but it looks pretty solid too
A bit of work to do on the rear strut area but is not as bad as the pics show
Saggy 3dr cossie roof lining which will be coming out
Rear lights out, one of them has a broken lug on the rear so will be looking for another set during the build
Small bit of surface rust on the bootlid
Rear light panel has some rust but its solid behind so will be getting these areas dealt with
Interior being removed
The boot release switch (dont see these often) but found out they were on the XR4i's
Accidental shot of the drivers door and sill but it looks all solid
Rear door cards out...
Rear bench out, it has few marks and indentations from when they were parts in the car when it was left to stand outside
Still got the back rest in the car, which will be removed when i figure out how to remove it
Front drivers seat which is in pretty good condition although not perfect but useable
Very good passenger seat
Front door cards removed
Bit of damage on one but this is not seen once the pocket is fitted
The interior carpet is a bit manky and needs a thorough wash and clean. Not gonna have a carpet in the car so will be sold with the rest of the interior - i was ready to blow chunks cleaning this up - the fucking rat
Sound deadening removed, threw out the bit at the front of the pic but still have the tunnel part - again not going in the car so will be sold
The passenger side floor - its solid - ignore the little surface rust by the sill
rear passenger floor
The drivers side floor - has had a plate welded in by the seat mount but is all solid so thats good news
My sierra seat mounts waiting to be bolted onto my buckets
More updates soon

yes mate you need to pop down again
also got a rs500 fibreglass upper spoiler to go on, lower rs500 rubber spoiler (non genuine)
Got a spare set of 3dr cossie rims for track use ass they need a refurb and some spare center caps
If anyone needs a genuine std Cosworth upper spoiler please let me know as i have 2, including all the caps.

Well it definately needs paint in a few places but deciding whether to do the whole car or not.
If i decide to weld in the cage then the inside will need doing too.
Ideally want to get the car running first so i can get it to a mates garage so he can paint it 0 but then again if the whole is stripped down it will be easier to paint so i need to decide but that is a few months away anyway at present.
Still got lots to strip down and loads of parts to collect.
Ideally im not sure which route to take as this is one of the reasons why i never restored my moonstone 3dr cos as where do you draw the line in a rebuild - it can be never ending.
I want to have this car all done and ready on the road for around 5k but not sure that will be enough

not yet but will have before it hits the road
have decided to get the whole car painted in and out and will more than likely go Frozen White or similar. I did think about changing to Moonstone but think it will work better as a track car if its white - I may even put some tigetr stripes on it

Looks like a good base to build a track hoon. How far you going with suspension parts wise, what all will adjustable or you going to go with the standard stuff and upgarde once is going? Keep at it and keep the pics coming

I need to stick to my original budget and not go overboard spending thousands only to end up breaking it before it hits the road
Biggest expense will be the bodywork and the engine, although I have a good mate who does loads of bodywork and has had quite a few features in Performance BMW

Little update - The 3dr Cossie interior has sold to Scooby Pete for his 3dr project - good meeting you and your mate yesterday Oh and your 3dr is clean too so should be good once its complete.
My standard seat runners have been modified to accept the Cobra Monaco bucket seats I have going in - big thanks to aRSe (Chris).
Next job is to strip the dashboard out and have a look at the wiring as it seems a mess all around the car and i really dont have a clue about this stuff so should prove interesting
Hopefully get pics this weekend.
