Operation Tango
Here is my MK1 Fiesta Project
What is Operation Tango, you may ask? Well....do you remember this?:
YOU KNOW WHEN YOU'VE BEEN TANGO'D!
Now, imagine what would happen if my Stratos Silver 1977 1100S
was to turn a corner and meet the Tango Man....what do you expect would happen?
I suppose you get the picture yeah?
Here is (in brief) what's happening:
New Panels:
N/S Front Wing
O/S Front Wing
Front Panel
Drivers Door
Bonnet
Repairs:
Dent by fuel cap skimmed
Line on O/S Rear Panel "sharpened"
Misc:
Full respray inside & out - Signal Orange (sills remaining black)
Black Fiesta "S" Stripes added - Thanks DMB
Twin Cibie Oscar Spot Lights (Backs sprayed Signal Orange)
RS 4 Spoke Alloys RWD Offset - Fully Refurbed
Waxoyl'd inside
Possibilities:
XR2 Arches & Front Valance

So, the Fiesta arrived at the garage on Monday morning just before 09:00. I had the full day off University so spent it at the garage to lend a hand (or get in the way).
Anyway, I was left to my own vices for the "strip down" stage and fully enjoyed finding new bits (and a couple of new holes) the car had
Here are a few snaps I took of the car at various stages of the day:
I hope to get down again on Friday (if I can hitch a lift with someone) to see how the wreck is coming on

Finally, PROGRESS!!!
Decided it made sense to sandblast the whole car as opposed to just the rusty areas.
I am pleased. Paint has also been ordered today. Oh, and I have just sorted out the delivery of my 1800 Zetec engine today
New bonnet and wings lined up...
There used to be a large dent there....
Fully sand blasted
This was once orange with rust
It's a wasp!
Used to have rust bubbles...
This used to be flat
Buzzzzz

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
that is amazing its not rusted away!
I had one exactly the same as one of my first cars 77 1.1 S with the stripey seats, it had a rotten floor and sills but that was way back in 1987.
So it had barely survived ten years cant imagine how a mk1 fiesta survived as long as yours - good to see it saved. I'd go for the supersport look - round headlamps, tailgate lip spoiler, side stripes, red check seats.
