MK4 RS escort estate
Decided to have a play with Fords again so grab the closest escort estate i could find.
And it just happened to be a unfinished RS project engine, loom and running gear all fitted and running. 90 spec interior and front bumper. Cossie front brake conversion, Samco boost and water hoses and full stainless exhaust.
So this is how i got it just needing a bit of finishing and painting..
And she bloody solid as well which is a bonus. It's still got MOT as well..
I got offered a set of 16" mondeo si alloys and tyres so i've fired them on now.
Then masked her up and got a couple coats of primer on.
Then this evening i removed the doors and bonnet preped the shuts and inside the doors and bonnet and got some primer on them too

Cheers for the comments guys..
Jonny s2, no mate it's a f plate and hasn't been on the road since it's been turbo'd.
xrmalin, the rear speakers are on the standard tailgate speaker mounts.. They wont be staying there. They'll be mounted in the rear shelf when i find the measurements from my old estates that i'm sure i've still got some..

Nice profect, looks like a good honest car to start with. You painting all the pannels on the car? just mask up the checks first? just done my sierra and thought of doing it that way, but ended up painting all the stuff off the car, took a while like!

Cheers for the coments guys, it is a really good shell. It's only had a battery tray (not the support panel) replaced and a small plate on the sill. And doesn't need anything else yet..
No fella they don't have a rear shelf... I used to make the side mounts and rear self them for my old estates years ago..
I'm gonna be painting it with the panels on.
Once my 'puter sorts itself out i'll fire some pics up from this evening..
Cheers Rich

Cheers for the cool coments guys..
I must say progress has been a tad slow, been really busy with work and trying to get the house sorted. But i did get a couple hours on her last night .
So i've de-locked and de-wipered the tailgate and smoothed the bonnet badge out..
Got the whole car flatted back, the tailgate and front edge of the bonnet and a couple other bits need repriming. Also the door mirrors and bumpers need 2k priming.. Rear bumper got a couple coats of plastic primer last night as well..

Cheers guys you've gotta love estates..
Been working away so haven't had the time to get on with her this week.
Picked up a big front mount intercooler for Ł40 so got that fitted and then cut the back of the front bumper out and trimmed the top for clearance and cut the centre lower bar out aswell.
Also i picked up a S2 kit yesterday.

Well haven't got a lot done in the last week or so, so i got out the unit on saturday and reprimed a couple bits then wet flatted the whole car and started masking it all back up again.
Then this morning i finished the masking, panel wiped it and got some paint on her, got a few runs that need flatting out though but shouldn't be too much hassle..
The rear bumper and the mirrors also got painted as well..

Well this has kinda taken a back seat. Been trying to get the house sorted before xmas and all that and have spent all saved car build money on the house. So haven't the money to get it on the road till after xmas sometime.
I did get out my workshop this and gave it a hard looking at, and help rolled my mates 3 door turbo'd estate on to it's side so i can weld and paint the underneath, inside and outside for him..
And that got me thinking a bit too much for a sunday morning lol. Mines not gonna be on the road for a while so......
So i'll be stripping mine down tomorrow bolting it to my roll over frame and flipping it on it's side tomorrow so i can clean it up and paint the underneath white and get all the suspension ect ect powder coated all new bushes brakes ect. And some engine parts will be getting powder coated at the same time..

Cheers guys..
Dropped my daughter off at school this morning and got out the workshop to get cracking on with it..
Got on pretty well with it i think.. Haven't done this to a escort or any water cooled car about 10 years come to think of it..
Got all the wiring, pipe work, rad intercooler ect out the way. Then disconnected everything else and whipped the engine and box out..
So then i dug out my roll over frame and got it bolted on ready.
Then got all the glass, interior ect out of the car and set about rolling it over.
It only took 2 hours to get it to this stage, well happy with myself thought it would of took me all day as it's been along time since touching one..
Then off with the exhaust, gear seletor, fuel tank, pipes, pump and brake lines. And started cleaning the underneath up ready for painting..
So tomorrow i'l be whipping the O/S suspension off and finish cleaning the underside..

Bit gutted really got out there yesterday a there was a tiny rust bubble on the back of the drivers sill so had a look and it was rotton and ended up having to chop a section out a let in some fresh metal. Just needs priming and painting now..
After that i stripped out the drivers side suspension and cleaned a bit more of the floor and chassis..
Not sure if i'm going down the powder coat route now as i've got enough 2 pack met black and orange left from myold T4 to do the running gear, tank ect ect..

No fella had a crap end to the year caught my missis with one of my mates, so shes gone and left me, the kids, the house and debts. So things are a bit awkward at the mo...
BUT now shes not about making me decorate the house which i've found out to be so she could kick me out and move her new bloke in, well that backfired on her BIG time LMAO shes the homeless one...
I'm back on the estate as of yesterday.
So heres where i'm at..
Yesterday i finshed cleaning the floor for stonechipping and got it all white stonechipped..
Then today got a couple hours in and preped the engine bay and primed it.
So the weekend i'll be spraying the floor and engine bay diamond white..
