engine update peeps!!
as some of u know, i am building a Zetec turbo for the car now however it will be a long project to complete this as being a student sucks
the aim is in the region of between 320-400hp...any where in there will suit me perfectly
i started work on the inlet (even though i aint got much done yet and managed to clean it up etc...ive currently got a RS1800 inlet and should be getting the TB for it soon...however just using a mondy 2L TB just coz im bored at the moment on the manifold lol
however, after looking at the inlet manifold and measuring up the 2L TB diameter...they both seem the same? however i thought the RS1800 TB is meant to be larger than the 2L TB? pics here explain what i mean
this hole here
is the same size as the hole on the 2L mondy TB....
the measurement on the 2L TB was about 57mm IIRC however the RS1800 one is meant to be 65mm? so if the TB hole is bigger...then the inlet hole will restrict it wouldnt it? or am i wrong in thinking the 65mm is the measurement for the inside diameter?
got it nice and clean though lol
more pics coming...

awesome car mate
as for the inlet manifold, the tb you want is either the rs1800 or the 130ps xr3i one, i think the one you ahve tho is the largest as there is no tapering towards the butterfly. all the manifolds themselves are the same the tb is the only variable

Chrissy_bwoy, hi mate cheers for the comments...what are the differences between the RS1800 and the XR3I 130PS throttle bodies? I have the manifold off the RS1800 (which im aware is the same as the normal alloy inlets)...however the TB on the RS1800 is meant to be 65mm is it not?...however if the internal diameter of the TB is any bigger than it currently is, then it will be bigger than the big hole on the inlet manifold...if u get what i mean?
ultimate sleeper, ill look out for u bruv make sure its popping off the limiter lol
DanS, cheers mate!!

ultimate sleeper, rims are staying...something nice and light and weigh about the same if not less than the standard rims!...plus they are exclusive...cant get them ne more
dont wanna go euro although i have a few euro touches just to keep things nice and subtle...dont like drastic changes to bodywork...i was thinking about euro before i went for this current look however i want performance...performance needs big brakes....euro = 15's or less...my current brakes (300mm ST170 setup) requires 16's as a min so thats out the question lol...
might buy another set of black rims to change whenever im bored LOL or seen Paul R's OZ rims in 16's which look appealing

as far as i know the only 65mm ones are the aftermarket american ones, the rs1800 and 130ps share the same tb as per microcat anyway as we converted a mates 1800 xr2i to rs1800 spec using those parts and cams.
im running the 13ops throttle body on my alloy inlet same as u.

Thought i would just quickly let u know roughly whats going on with the car...
Got hold of a RS1800 TB at last...so that makes the inlet side complete (but im changing it now lol)...well apart from the fuel rail which i have to address soon
Ordered a new pair of cams
Vernier puleys are here
valve springs should arrive shortly with cams
New followers, etc etc will be ordered when the head is sent off for big valve treatment (second week of jan hopefully)
head is waiting for big valves, MASSIVE port etc etc treatmeant and will be fully flow tested etc etc until its spot on
few rust spots under the car are now sorted...just needs undersealing and spraying red
waiting for a guy to get back from holiday (end of the month) before i can get my Bias valve and fit the rear disc conversion kit
ALL issues with turbo exhaust housing bolts snapping should be sorted...got some 17mm bolts on there now and MASSIVE thick studs also got a flexy section welded into the exhaust its slightly thinner than my 3" bore exhaust but have not noticed any difference in performance
thats about it to be honest...
oh apart from zetec head is fully stripped waiting for brand new cams, followers, collets, springs, etc etc...want everything on the engine to be spanking new
ill get some pics up soon

RS220Turbo cheers dude
got another long awaited update for my car now!! with pics this time LOL
finally got the head off by putting the engine on its side:
head is now stripped and bare
old cams
block will stay like this for a little while:
put the RS1800 manifold onto the head with the FRST injector rail to see if it would all fit...injector rail needs to be modded though
some bits ready to be cleaned and painted etc
also have a brand new pair of cams and a few other bits and bobs that ill take pics of and post up later
If you look back a few pages u will see i have had a number of probs with the exhaust housing elbow bit bolts breaking...so i had enough...
swapped the normal ones for these
also have a flexy section welded into the exhaust now so had no problems ever since
also changed by lead that goes from alt to starter
and this is my charging lead
took a quick pic of the underside while i was down there...cant wait to start the underside part!
thats where the car stands today

bit more of an update tonight:
these arrived the other day thanx to Ian Howell (Great chap! )
double lift valve springs, IH custom cams, stem seals, valve guides, modified retainers, and some platforms...hopefully enabling me to rev in the region of 7.5-8k
FINALLY removed the stem seals as well!! found it was easy using a 16 or 17mm socket, tap them onto the seal and then twist them off...dont hit them on too hard if using a 16mm socket coz its a nightmare to take them out the socket PMSL
also if your ever in trouble and dont know which the inlet and exhaust cams are...the inlet has a pickup for the cam position sensor:
also heres a comparison of the lobe on the inlet cam...
old:
new:
Ian assures me my power figures can be achieved lol i fookin hope so! PMSL
thats it for tonight peeps...hopefully more on thursday now!
