Right you bunch of hounds!
Went over the garage last night and and EUREKA!!!! I did it, I've finally managed to get the damn rear shoes back on!!
(with help from a certain mate, you know who you are)
Ahhhh dont they look like they were made to be fitted together
My new poly spring tops. Cheers Matt!
Right dunno if some of you have seen my other thread? https://passionford.com/forum/viewto...=870368#870368 But i have bl00dy bent my puller trying to get the last N/S/F hub off so i can replace it with my new shiney red one.
Gotta get to Halfords to get the proper one i need and I'll be back on here later tonight.............................I hope.

Well done on the shoes mate.
Remember them front hub pullers only work with the drive shaft in and in the box coz the bolt pushes against the drive shaft.

Ok then tonight was......I'm going to get lots done night.
That turned into, ar$e, 5hite, bo11acks!!
As you can see the night started ok............
My partner in crime, Stu from the UKFestaNetwork.
Roof going back on ready for the new mohair.
Spoke to Damo V and another mechanically minded mate last night and both suggested a few ways of getting my remaining N/S/F hub off so i can replace it with my nice new one with new bearings in.
First i tried taking the slack up in the shaft and gently tapping (smacking the crap out of) the shaft nut.
That failed to work, at least i thought i may have broken the seal between rust and toothed shaft........................er NO!
So i got my trusty (*second hub puller, the other broke clean in half! ) hub puller which i was assured by the norman in Halfords would do the trick (*see above) Guess what..................
So by now i'm guessing that this fucker don't wanna let go, so a brainstorming sessh comes into play..............the results are as you'll see below, quite unbelivable
Well i thought it was quite a good idea, still didn't work even with 2 tonnes of stoopid arsed trolly jack behind it!
So plan D - N came into plan, take the god damn shaft off....
Wish i had done that in the first place, but i still actually havn't atchivied anything i wanted to.
Still goto try and get it off of the shaft, this is how i left it
Soaking in WD40.
Completley fooked off with it now! Gotta get another shaft, i think

I had the exact same problem with the hubs on my Ka, Knackered theshaft by hammering just like that and broke a halford chocolate hub puller.
On the second hub puller i got the shaft out using the impact wrench for about 20-30mins.

Bloody hell Paul, going to extremes there.
Looking good though. I wish I could have got my shocks and springs powder coated and a few other suspension bits like you have done.

You've properly mullered the end of that shaft ay
You couldve put a punch in the little dimple in the middle then banged it with a mallet....
The way you have it now mate, it suold come out easily, see the way you had it with the jacks, that wouldnt have really done anything with regard to "pushing" the hub off, as there wouldn't be any force pushing back onto the shaft, unless you just did that so you could bang against something solid....
If you have properly £ucked the cv joint/threaded end, you dont need to buy a new shaft, just the joint..... in which case, there is no need to remove it from the hub anyway, just pick up a new joint, stick it on the end of your shaft, put it into yer new hub.... put back on the car... job done

Well yesterday afternoon was a bit more productive, i bought myself a angle grinder!! But more of that later!
After all the fuss i made about fitting the rear anti roll bar, i thought i would actually have a look to see if there were any holes to mount it........Guess what (seems i love to run before i can stumble )
Being happy with that now i can mount my tank, tank strap, rest of the fuel loom and pump.
Time to get nasty with this bloody hub!!
Well after completley stripping it down and busting a hammer and my vice in the process i gave up and called it a day, luckily me ol'mucker zvhturbo has come to my rescue with another N/S/F driveshaft!

I have just come across some old resto pictures from the last time i started it and even a few pictures from when i first got the car, nearly 5 years ago
My first ever picture of her, about 2-3 days after buying.
My FAVORITE picture so far, its at the Escort Cabriolet Club stand at Trax 2001
Dont she look Sweeeeeeeeeeet!!
My X-Best mate and me huni
On the way back from a show later in 2001, there was a huge pile up on the M11 - thats us in the blistering heat shaded by a reefa (refridgerated) lorry.
This was at (i think) the Xr day at some hall, it pi$$ed down all the way there
Up until this point the car had stayed as near standard, time for a change.............
Into the garage for a bit while the funds (slightly) built up.
Time to just try some different rims
Top mechanic type mate!!
Various peeps trying to help
Various shots of new top adj Spax and poly bushes going in
Time for a change on the inside, thought i'd have a nose and see what the floor pan was like? Patch work quilt or nice'n'tidy??
Looks fine to me, nah fook it - i'll hammerite it any way
Job done!
White dials i think were going in here
Off to the MOT station
Thats it for now, more to come now i have my driveshaft put together - will post them later today.

Right i've got the driveshaft all together and nearly ready to go on, this is a mix'n'match.
The shaft is from a S2 (zvhturbo ) which wont directly fit my XR box, so i've added the splined hub end to my shaft to make a perfect ready to go one!
Just need to sort the CV boots and i can finish the front end off!! Buffty front hub & S1 A/R/B included!!
