Ok!!

Bit of a cooling off period over.

Have done nothing during the snowy period except sit in the chair with my feet up, afraid getting cold aint what cars are about now.
With the snow cleared went to Marks today to see him start to put the head back on having sorted the mods required to maximise head/block integrity to Marks new Spec. Well everythings prepared, took ages & very fiddly, will be tomorrow now before head & manifolds are back on.
Car could start tomorrow although im not sure how long i can spend on it.

Have now finalised the Spec for when we detune after the final Topspeed run. With the latest BW Turbo should see 750bhp on a Turbo 2 sizes smaller so spool of a GT35 returning . Those horses from 750 to 860 dont half come at a compromise, deadly at Brunters but not a lot of point on the street.

how long do you think the engine last before needing rebuilding/freshen up at 750bhp???

750 is still a mental amount of power !

I just hope you get to see 210+ in it, can't see why not if it holds together.

Theres sweedish and norweigian YB's with over 700bhp that are used daily they seem to last forever, iirc the Ruudracing flint grey saph was 670bhp and used daily. Was broke for spares in 2006-2007 though

Not exactly forever if it was broken 4 years ago

Best of luck Rod - are you looking to replace the horses lost from downsizing turbo with gas for brunters? After all, if the engine will run it......

what power did you have when the car hit 200+ mph ,cos if you are de tuning to 750bhp how are you going to go faster with less power?

Not sure folks are understanding....Rod is saying it will be de-tuned after he does his final topspeed run so will be no longer competing.

Rod,
I like your style - 750bhp as a "de-tune" .

About 710/720 to run 200mph, 840/850 to run 210 & way over 900 to run anywhere near 215 in 1.5miles. I have a 200bhp Nitrous capability so a 750bhp engine would be more than enough .
However im not into a detune untill after the next runs. We realise we can never run more than 900/920bhp with present head/Block integrity knowledge & with the King still failing to run past 900bhp we would be silly to try.
My targets are to put to bed both the on & off Nitrous records, hence we have 850ish off gas enough for a near 210mph run off gas we will then pull the engine Power back below 800 & run a shot of gas with maybe 212/213 the aim.
After that its up to the new generation to beat it, all records can be beaten but believe me it will be difficult very difficult if we achieve our targets.

We have had 28 runs in this car & 24 have been 100%. Ive had a clutch cable problem, drive shaft break, an ageing block crack & a head gasket failure when a pipe popped off. Remember i have an open policy on development problems others dont, other Tuners get to hear but the punters dont of other Tuners problems. We are developing an engine to run for 30+ secs on full throttle at 900bhp it aint been done before be assured. The king of Cossie Tuning has just had a 3rd failure trying to hold 900+ on the Dyno so we aint done bad lads, 750bhp is very simple but 850 is not.

I still want to run before Christmas, my book is missing its final chapter. The weather may make that impossible.

Not sure yet but it does get me lots of invites to all manner of shows.
I would like to sell it one day but im sure it will have to be broken to make sensible money.

you list the many problems in one small paragraph but so much progress has been made from that paragraph i hope you put the demons to bed and smash the speed you want

Was such a shame the day didnt go to plan. I was really looking forward to seeing it smash the record. Even on a shakedown run and a blown head gasket he still clocked more than i did. I only managed 166mph... not bad though considering i have under 350bhp.

I really hope it sets the records Rod is hoping for next time out.

Got to finish to win im afraid .

It was the Vmax format that killed us, We arrived with an un-mapped car, 35 minutes in the line-up before each run meant Mark decided to have just one mapping run not 2 or 3 so he removed all the safety limits from the ECU so he could set the boost without flutter, proved an epic fail when that pipe came off.
Yes we could indeed have been the quickest we were only about a 1/4 way down. Our other problem at Vmax is their is no way we can stop with the gate where it is, no chance we are braking 200 metres before that. We have our own Vbox on board so know what we achieve. Certainly 206 would have been achieved off Nitrous with ease.

Change the fooking record Rod, the old rallycross engines may not of been 900hp but more like 100 less and they took a shed load of abuse for a lot longer than 30 secs lol

Don't get me wrong I love your car, love the development that goes into it BUT seriously if someone like JG had a customer wanting to beat your record I am very confident he could build a engine that would do it.

Ofcourse most people wouldn't use JG as he'd want 100k just to put the engine together

I've followed rally cross for many years, and have never encountered a circuit where the throttle is held open fully for 30 seconds continuously as you do with top speed runs. The longest flat out run in any rally cross car running big bhp is a maximum of 7 maybe 8 seconds, brake, turn, throttle 3 to 4 seconds, brake, turn, throttle.....

Ade.

No they never, it was all smoke and mirrors - the spec that Martin Schanche advised Harvey would make 700bhp didn't even get anywhere near that and he then admitted that the figures were no more than guesses and Harvey had to completely re-engineer the spec to get the final 704bhp from the Hart 2.1 Evo engine (back when 500bhp was considered exceptional ). It's a bit like now-a-days where the numbers have to start with a 7 to be even considered exciting - it was the same for the rally-cross cars back in the day, no-one wanted to admit to having a low figure, so they were hyped up beyond all reality.....

We know that Ade but others dont understand they aint been involved in it. Topspeed is the ultimate test for an engine.

Never been rude about anyones car mate if people stick to facts when on here, but its full of Chavs & bullshit boyos that come on here & spout shite about how fast their car is & who they have killed on the road etc. Its my pet hate & i will continue to treat these fuckwits in the way they deserve. If you want to prove how fast your car is put Datron on it & go to Brunters. Remember the GD section is full of total shite & retards if you take it too seriously you are an idiot.

Its not like that on Passion Ford read down the threads in GD to see what level of IQ infest this place . I get congrats from all over the car scene believe me, will be at Autosport billed as one of the UK's top modded cars. Its great that on almost any car Forum 'Rods car' or 'that white Seirra' is all thats needed for people to recognise it .
One of my vids is at 800k hits thats near 500 a day so lots of interest in the old girl. Anyway i love the banter on here, i have a little band of haters that follow me around like lap dogs its rather quaint. Certain people post on my thread when something goes wrong but are a million miles away when records get beaten thats so sad .

In Rod's defence I've said it before and I'll say it again, whilst at RSOC National Day there were these kids drooling over his car and comparing it to Martoon's Reyland Escos and Rod did say that they were two totally different beasts and that HIS wasn't as quick off the line, now he could have said otherwise and those kids would have believed him but he didn't, can't say I've read anything where he's slagged off another car but I may be wrong and would stand corrected. From what I saw he was more than fair about his comments towards Martin's car. And no he hasn't just gifted me via Paypal, he wouldn't know me from Adam (oh wait that is my name errr).

I talked to Rod and Mark for ages at Ford Fair during the summer and got the same impression. They don't slate anyone elses work, they may disagree with the way things are done, but it was always backed up with a comprehensive reason as to why they prefer to use part x or use method y. Top guys
