Should be doing 200mph in less than a mile mate!

Is your intercooling up to the job though of keeping the power while under load?

We tested a monaro with similar power and it fell short, and it was due to intake temps.

has cooler slightly bigger than rs500 one for escort plus water injection ,whats the most it could lose power wise if it lost 200 still have 800 ,plus because it only runs 28 psi to get that figure would temps not be lower than say a yb running 38/40 psi to get 650
thanks

RS500 cooler works well for rod at that level, and as you correctly state there will likely be less of a drop off on yours if anything due to the lower boost.

So it certainly sounds like you will piss your way past 200mph, when are you planning on trying?

Rod will have a better idea of your realistic maximum speed than me, but its got to be in the 215 mph ballpark I would think if your aerodynamics is similar to a saph or escos.
(havent seen your car, do you have a link to some pics?)

Obviously it should do & sail on past 215mph, but to do that you have to get the gearing near optimum & keep the charge air down. If the charge air runs away the ECU will simply pull all the Power . Think that Monaro with over 1000bhp failed to reach 190 on its first try, although i thinks its done 198ish now still 15mph short of its potential. I wish you luck & any advise i can give i will.

cool project

Are you thinking of top speed testing it before you sell it then?
Or is this just a sneaky way to get people to view the ad?

Sometimes i feel like throwing in the bin but im a determined little bugger & try to find answers to the problems that arise on such a build. Being older i dont need it finished yesterday, I sometimes just walk away & do something else the problems always seem easier after a break.

One such little problem was smoking when cold, we knew from Simon that these huge Turbos used a bit of oil but it did seeme excessive. I mentioned it to Mark so he investigated, during work elsewhere the oilfeed union had been removed & a nice new sparkly one fitted. However it did not include the restrictor so the Turbo was getting way to much oil, without taking it apart it could not be seen. That prob had an easy fix .
Still suffering from belt mis-alignment checks have shown that the Power steering pulley is very slightly out of line & needs to be moved forward about .8mm it makes a noise when cold, it will be sorted shortly. We have gone from RWD to Escort belts but its a strange one & should not need the pulley moving . 8.5K revs dictate its got to be spot bollix.
The Stack Tacho dont like the signal from the CDI & goes AWOL over 7k, will try a Tacho adaptor or try wirng it direct to the SM4, these are my today probs all of which will be sorted . Then i will go to high Boost but not before.

So this car is probably the quickest (top speed) 4 cylinder car in the UK? I rekon it could well be, good luck with the top speed run whenever it happens.

No its second to Andy Forrest Subaru which has done 210.4 we have un-officially reached 210.2 so we should gain that title, with the extra Power .

Their are no plans whatsoever at this point. I want a mag feature about the car & its attention to detail not how fast it can hack down a runway at this point in time.

Back to ongoing jobs.
The new intercooler is mega & the WI has not yet turned on & it will probably not be required even on Topspeed runs a far cry from having the WI working when on the throttle for a few seconds. However the 2 new rads are proving to be just as mega & Mark wants them at 90 deg. On the motorway it can now drop as low as 60 . Mark has asked me to come up with a Diverter system controlled by the ECU to take 1 rad out of play untill its required.
Ordered a suitable 12v valve from the States which has the correct outlets so will fit it when it arrives. If that fails i remember my Dad putting a piece of cardboard in the air inlet that will work .

Nice work Rod glad it all seems to be working well after so long off the road. There is a Porsche event being organised at Brunters soon that should see the fastest British cars running.

Mark fitted the Turbo restrictor today & i have sorted my Chassis rail wiring thats been their since Noah now all looks neat & i even painted all the Blue/Red fittings black even though you cant see them, this is very Sad i realise but true Buftys do this sort of thing. Next job is the pully alignment problem probably early next week. Mark wants to revisit the crank sensor as hes getting dodgy readings. When these jobs are complete, Mark will dial in 2bar of boost which should be circa 700bhp so the fun should start.
Then 2.5bar . On pump thats 770bhp/838 on 109.

If the ffs boys are there they hold Top 3 slots over 1.5miles (223, 222 & 222mph). I can only dream of their overall package .

Well
Took car to Combe its first RS show for 5 years, incredible interest from the punters & must admit it looks the best its ever done. The new centrepush hydraulic release bearing has transformed the way the car drives so im well happy. Will be at Modified Madness next weekend.
Done 1300 odd miles now & may well go to 2bar of boost in the next week or so & then run a few miles at that before going to 2.5bar. Have a mag feature in the next couple of weeks so lookinf forward to that.

Cheers Rod
