Took the motor to Modified Madness & the response to the car was incredible. Must admit the really hot weather & being on my feet for hours has made me realise im 65 not 35. Feeling drained at the mo & not sure if i can face the second day of this show, will see in the morning. I sometimes have to remember my age & listen to my body.
Loads of people recognised the car from the 5th gear run, which was over 4 years ago so TV really does get your car well known in the modified car world .
Must admit i prefer these shows to the Ford ones.

Saw this at Combe last weekend, must say it looked excellent in the metal, very nicely put together.

Whenever I walked past you were there talking to someone, did you ever get more than 4ft away from the thing?

Why would you go to a show if nothing interests you??

Got to say, you do come across as very arrogant

was very useful to be honest, when i wanted a good chat with him and mark they were close by.

Thanks for taking the time to chat with me Rod, was really cool to talk about your push nitrous system, it seems the event was good for me in the end aswell because danny@EP wants to help me out with my car so hopefully things will progress alot faster than before.

Not sure if you will get to do your run before me, if not i wouldnt mind coming with you with mine and doing them both on the same day, be interesting to see the big difference in 'in gear' times between 980bhp/1400kg vs 700bhp/1100kg

Now over 2000miles covered & today filled it with Pro S oil & a new filter.
Can now go for more Boost, but Mark wants to re-shim the tappets as some are a bit noisy. Need to sort a day but hopefully it will be before Ford Fair & will give me lots of Power to play with.

Been running on 1.2bar boost untill all the little niggles were ironed out, today it was mapped & a tad more Boost added. It was not without drama . Mark started by putting back the 6 deg. of ignition before upping the boost, however first tread on the throttle saw smoke pouring out the back, all vital signs were OK so it was not major. Mark asked what had changed since the last mapping session, well i had fitted a Black Screened breather pipe in place of the usual silver braid. Sure enough the pipe inside the braid had melted where it passed about 2" from the manifold.
Mark found some new pipe & re-routed it well away from the manifold, problem solved.
With an extra 6deg & 1.8bar of boost the car was stomping on a bit, we know the speeds that can be reached at certain points so guessing the Power is fairly simple. It felt a bit quicker than my last conversion which was 660 on pump & Mark said well its over 650+ thats for sure.
Saw Mark laugh which is always a good sign.
At this point we both agreed that trying to map above this level was simply not on & so its to Brunters for the final lift to 2.5bar & 770 on pump .
Its hard to imagine what 2.5bar will be like on the road, too fast is my first thought. Poor old Greg will have to grip with at least 300+ more horses cant start to think what that will be like.
Will enjoy my trip to Silverstone tomorrow thats for sure.

Rod,
I thought you used to have the dyno sheets up somewhere, but I can't find them anymore? I wanted to show someone how responsive a big turbo could be with twin scroll?

saw your car on sunday and had a chat with pete and mark on the spec-r stand.

make me want another sierra, but i have decided to keep the FRS and allow pete and mark to work their magic with a bar and plate cooler for my car (my charge cooler has packed up - saw 70 degree inlets over the weekend )

0-200 in 24.5 secs is just rediculous! a veyron does it in 24.2!

Im glad you are showimg interest in how my car performs at 4680rpm Jimbo. If i post my graph overlayed with your Dads car you will see just how well its going to go. From 4.4k on its not even close so there is no need for you to worry how it will perform .
I record all figures posted on the web.

thats very interesting actually rod

you must remember though

my dad was only looking for 550lbft and 750hp

any more and it was good

what it did give was a bonus !

so to compare engine is not brill

what would be a more fair comparrison is yums engine to it if you have tome to do that would be good !

its a shame we only ran it on 102 fuel over the 109 or similar to your engine and the small turbo for final graphs !

Well Funeral out of the way so can get back on the car .

Have decided i will fit a IDCV valve so im in the process of fitting a remote one, just waiting for the pipes to arrive (maybe today).
Spoke to Mark last night & next week will move on to 2.2bar of boost that will be over 700bhp & lots of torque so interesting rides after that.
Thats still .6 bar off max boost & its bloody stupid at 1.9bar, me thinks im getting a bit old for driving this machine & im not joking .

Dont want to say much about whats happening as regards trying to break records as im winding a few haters up on another thread , but the OFF nitrous record will be put to the test very shortly if all goes to plan.

Excuse my ignorance but what's an IDCV valve?

Cant understand why people get so wound up about when you're going to do events etc tbh, surely its up to you as its your car lol.

Good luck with it!

Dont worry its what happens the punters think i should run twice a week setting records . It takes a lot of work to go to Brunters to beat any records. It will happen .

The IDCV is the idle control valve, my set up didnt have one so ive purchased a Bosch valve & wired it in. Got the pipes today & its already fitted & wired in . Mark will adjust when i see him next week.

I thought it must be an idle speed control valve, never heard it called that before though so wasn't sure lol.

Cant imagine what that much power's like, especially on the road, must be awesome!!

1st time i have heard you say you think you are getting a bit old for driving the car!

Does that mean the power is starting to scare you a bit?

Rod, what does the saph feel like at 300km/h ?
I never liked the feel of that sierra shape in very high speeds (250+) the few times i tried, theyrear end feelt a litle wobbly...?! Meybe it they where wrong set up, but the 3dr with it's whale tail always felt more safe at high speeds IMO..
Have you done any aeromdynamic mods to the car?

Anyway , creds for buliding a totally awsome Saphire - job well(!!!) done!

Have spent most of the last 2 days cleaning the car doing all those little bits that usually never get done. I suppose it will never look this good again but it does look rather good probably the best its been in the 15 years ive owned it.
Cant wait for more Boost !!!!!!!!

Put up your Dads Pump figures & i will compare the two.

I was not knocking your Dads graph Jimbo, but you have got to admit that graph of mine borders on stupidity above 4.4k .
