Cheers for the comments lads, its a bloody pain at the moment, i think as soon as some little bits are welded and tidied up the underside can be stone chipped and painted and i will feel a lot happier, up until now it feels like i have been taking stuff off the car for months, just want to put stuff back on, if i can remember where the fuck it all goes!

Dont say that, so far i can JUST about remember where bits go, leave it a few more weeks and im screwed, forgot to take any pics of where the various brake line clips go too

ARSE any way, im sure it will all work out okay, timing out nicely, suspension and tank don't come back for another 2-3 weeks, engine is off being machined, faced/honed with the crank being polished, should be back this week etcetc so i can build stuff up and fit it (hopefully) without crap being all over the place.

Hahahaha, nice one mate, 5 years! screw that, i wouldn't have a clue wher 95% of the bits go, the 5% being the wheels of course,

Good luck mate, you will have to get some pics up!

Afternoon every one,

Cheers for the comments lads, done a fair bit more to the car since the last update, i have welded in a new rear sill section and really scrubbed the underside, then 2k primer it and stone chipped it. Next weekend will see the underside in paint (finally, thank fuck) its been a mission up to this point!

XR cabby, it depends what state the underside is in, mine was THICK with black waxoil, which needed probably 10hours to remove (a hard 10 hours) with white spirit and rags, then i removed the old stone chip and seam sealer (so i could have a good look at the seams which luckily were spot on). Probably went through 2 gallons of white spirit, countless rags, 3 cans of wd40, 5 litres of gunwash, 4 wire brush bits etcetc, plus any welding you need to do etc, a real cunt if im honest, i will be happy when its done but for now im just pissed off i started.

Here are todays pictures

Starting with a final clean up and some masking

Then some stone chip, couldn't get the 3M gear i wanted, so opted for some upol gravitax, which i worked pretty well!

Tomorrow will see under the bonnet in primer.... bloody good weather for it too happy winder is over, that wasn't fun at all!

Cheers all

Good update today,

The car is in colour front end, engine bay and underside. It was getting dark by the time i finished today so the pictures aren't the best and tbh don't do the finish justice, so i will get some more up on a sunny day when its clean...

Painted the underside and got the old man to paint the bay (he's painted a lot more motors than me)

Acid etch on the front end

Followed by some 2k high build

Then the underside in colour

Then the bay, this is un polished etc but im pretty damn happy with the results

A few rubbish old pics from the beginning

[IMG]http://i68.photobucket.com/albums/i6/Rob_DOHC/Escort%20resto/SDC15047.jpg[/I
MG]

Pointless putting the old pics up but it makes me feel better about taking it apart. for any one wanting to do the same, i would say the following:

1) Don't
2) Get a garage
3) pay some one to do it
4) use 2k paint

Cheers all, i can start putting stuff back on now, new shiny stuff

Rob,

Yeah, its not bad cheers mate, some of the original paint has faded slightly but im sure a polish up will sort that out, just glad its done! Gave the slam panel a quick polish today and it came out blinding.

And as if by magic its fitted

Next weekend will see the brake lines made and in along with the fuel lines, and hopefully the tank and alloys in primer. Then its engine rebuild time
