sorry to sound lairy but that car is a turd.
I wouldn't waste your time and effort on it, I'd find yourself a better basis to work upon,
You'll never be happy with it

Mate im fussy as fuck with cars and i agree......thinking of sticking the lump in this: http://www.pistonheads.com/SALES/1381288.htm
Im not saying dont repair it, or that it cant be done just saying there probably a cheaper better alternative than saving it.

Well my mate came down today and done the floor and arch welding for free so i am gonna say a big thanx to Rich heres a few pics:
This next one was hard work as he had to cut the otherside of the panel out and fabricate a new part in the wheel arch
The main man helping me out
Ready for grinding down bit of seam sealer stonechip etc etc
I know it looks like a lot of patches but half of them appearred after my mate done more investigating

I'm currently doing the same on my frst, mines worse than yours looking at the pictures you've shown. I've been collecting ford panels for the last couple of years and have so much welding to do. I'm glad to see that someone else is going through the pain and keeping it original rather than just reshelling. Keep the good work up!

if the welds are ground down and u put a good coat of etch on then if u wanted to prime it then a few good coats of underseal it'll look visually ok from underneath. Doubt many people will rip all the carpets up to look from the inside, but would be good to make the inside look tidy too. Just make sure u get ALL the rust from everywhere, my old xr2i looked like urs when i took the kit off and had it patched up but after leaving it for ages eventually the whole lot rotted to fuck, even the sills!!
So for definate make sure the sills are good as obviously they are structual!!!
