Default Taking the piss ? ? ....

i saw this and it boils my piss, theres people trying to restore cars to keep them going and because of the sense of satisfaction and fun and then theres ' RS Parts' places like this charging this for two pipes...all it does is to inflate prices for parts making it harder for everyone.(in my opionion) rant over .
Can anyone justify this to me?..

maybe but my point is that theres certain parts that seem to be way over priced for what they actually are/do. if you're happy paying 120 quid for two pipes then thats cool for you!lol

hahaha, some people, il think you will find alex cabrio is very much an rs fan. so what if thats the price of those pipes, do you know how much they cost from ford? or even if they are still available???

if you dont like the price dont buy the item, its as simple as that

So this thread is moaning that someone is selling some genuine new ford parts, at a reduced price, to acheive two aims:
1) make himself a small amount of profit (alex runs on tiny margins normally)
2) help another RST stay on the road, something he is very passionate about

I really dont understand what you think he should be doing instead?

Not selling them?
Selling them at a loss rather than a moderate profit?
Selling them at ford retail price?

What would you prefer him to do?

Yeah the seller of those parts is obviously big on keeping RS's going has he is always sourcing and selling parts. I have bought no end of item from him whilst restoring my rs as ford no longer supplied them.

Keeping RST's going is Alex's massive passion, the small amount of profit he does make from selling the parts invariably gets spent on his own RSTs!

Top lad putting a lot of effort in to what he is doing and all driven by his love of RST's

Well im glad to see he does. Time is our worst enemy. There is to many people that dont bother and just give up on them. If everyone had that attitude, they would all soon be gone. So good on him.

instead of going on about the prices why don’t you phone ford customer services and ask them why its so dear to buy. Your find it would be the same price at fords.i am not here to rip anyone of. if people want to pay them prices then so be it. you really don’t have a clue how ford pricing works do u. i sold an s1 header tank 5 years ago for 420 pounds y did some want to pay that much because they wanted to. i have helped over 1000 people if not more over the yearsthanks for the input chip

as its already been said, you have no idea
try finding a set of these pipes, they havnt been availabe from ford for years and when you could get them they were about £80 each
so £120 for a brand new set is a bargain for something so rare
its people like you that boil my piss

If you can get them for less Please tell all the people on here & they will note it down.

I suspect that you aint got a clue how much rare parts are for these cars, they sound cheap to me & anyone else who has a clue.

Looks like fatty has been OWNED good and proper! Anyway why would you want to buy those pipes for? You don't need to run water through your turbo on an RST

OK , that was a bit of over response there... guess i was 'OWNED' but the point remains the same... its not a personal attack on anyone selling parts, good luck to him/them i PERSONALLY just wouldnt pay that , even from Ford direct etc.

Think theres too many people jumping down my throat for the sake of it.PAy whatever you want for parts, couldnt care less , but if everyone pays top dollar for everything surely the prices will just get a bit out of control.

sorry if ive 'offended' anyone, wasnt intended as a personal dig on the guy!

now get back too your cars

Parts like the wee turbo oil return are something like £40/£50 from ford. I remember my parts man actually apoligising to me, he felt bad that Ford were charging that much for a few inches of pipework lol

lol thankyou , thats all i was trying to say.

the fact that FORD charge 1000000 pounds for something doesnt make it WORTH that ,.or does it?

i work in the marine diesel industry and the parts are insanely priced , tiny orings etc.so it 'boils my piss ' in general.

if people are comfortable paying it then good luck to them.

i can fully appreciate the amount of care and effort that goes into the cars, and 'genuine' is always nice, but for me personally theres a limit.

lol very true,

touched a nerve there by the sounds of things. leads to think if i made replica pipes people would happily pay 100 pounds for them because that'd be a 'bargain',,,lol

theres and idea.,..

i must say fords do take the piss with there priceing not only on rs on a ka the power stering rack is 900 pounds i used to sell lots of mk4 escort head lights at 35 pounds each which was a good price to pay but only last year fords but up the price to 100 pounds they have shot them selfs in the foot big time as i will never sell one again at that price. and the rs 7 spokes i used to sell lots of them fords yet again but the price up and i dont sell any at all. so in all fords realy dont help the selfs at all. back in the 80s fords used to put there prices up 3 times a year. now it goes up every day.the oil return for s2 it used to be 10 pounds which was a good price to pay then it went to 30 pounds then 40 then 55 pounds on which iut is now a joke if you ask me fords realy dont care at all imo.

To buy a 10 grand car in bits from your dealer would be at least a quarter of a million quid.

Parts are over priced without a doubt, that much im sure we all agree on.

personally there is no limit to me on making my bike nice.
yeah so i don't have a car yet as i am not old enough to drive etc..
but once i do have the money and i am old enough etc there will be no limit..
i have spent over £1000 on my 'scooter' to make it the best and nicest there is.. and it is still not fully done and proberly never will be, and i no £1000 odd is nothing in the car world, but for a scooter its not bad personally, i would say there is no limit on making your bike / car or what ever you have the best...
