look hang on a minute ,i really couldnt be arsed with this thread anymoe but i can see its STILL going on.. ive been buying and building rs bits for a good couple of years now thanks so its hardly a welcome for a start.

The point (some) people seem to be missing is that its MY PERSONAL OPINION and ive said right at the start good luck to whoever sells whatever for however much none of my business. it was a general statement and ive said sorry if some people took it personnally.

as for the guy that spends 1000+ on a scooter and has 'no limits' then great for him! maybe when he's old enough to drive and get a mortage (not to mention kids) he'll see things in a slightly different light, until then , enjoy spending your dosh my friend!

as people have said in other threads on here there seems to be a mentality on here of jumping on the band wagon .i was under the impression this site was for enthusiast's and open debate/opinion on subjects in a mature adult manner? its sad in a way , i love my Rs ' and Fords and have spent ALOT of time and money on them over the years , not to mention reading the threads on this site that are great and interesting so im sure that entitles me to an opinion without being branded some sort of idiot that 'knows nothing' and is out here to slate businesses and parts traders

and as a final thought...it amazes me that theres people on here that are perfectly capable of building engines, converting cars to rWD , welding , painting etc.. i.e good engineers that then get the hump when i say 120 quid for two pipes is steap? make the bloody pipes yourself or pay the fine, PERSONALLY i value my capabilties slightly higher than valuing two pipes at 120 quid. and for the record, i bought 4 of the same pipes for £10 of ebay last week lol

to put things in perspective...try flying half way around the world to change a 6 tonne crankshaft in a 7000 HP main engine in a ship and tell me im not entiled to an opinion on the cost of two pipes? lol think SOME people get too caught up in the 'RS TAX' and lose sight of the ACTUAL value of things and how the parts are actually made etc..

well just to put things into perspective i went to get some electric roof pins made today for my mk4 cabriolet and one company wanted £40per hour now these pins are
40mm long 13mm wide but would take around 1hr to make so i would of been looking at £160ish a set these aren't rs parts but ford don't make them and they are very very rare to find any genuine ones around one lad i know sold a set of 2 of the bottom ones for £40 but i have found one company who can do me a set of 4 for £30 posted so even when you try and replicate something it can end up more than ford would sell them for even if they still sold them so its not jsut rs parts its ford parts in general as our cars are getting older and parts are being dicontinued etc

in the case of these pipes, the price is probably justifiable, due to them being obselete, and yes they did cost significantly more. so in this case, if u want an obselete part, u do tend to take a hit

however, i wont lie, there are certain parts from the same seller that arent obselete, that are available from ford still, and significantly cheaper from the ford dealer. just 1 example i found, the steering column bush repair kits.

but at the end of the day, if u cant be arsed to go to ford and do ur research and wish to armchair buy it all, the guy provides a service and wil always have profit as a perogative, who wouldnt

Aggree with you on that completely. Guess it boils down to the classic 'credit card' cars and people who wanna DIY themselves. On the dreaded pipes in particular i just feel that some thing like that there just isnt the NEED to buy BRAND NEW ORGINAL etc.and hence pay the price , for what it is, its within most peoples abilities to get round it a different way for less money. ( Personally)

My friend has spent nearly 30k on modding a Celica, he can talk the banter but knows fuck all about what he's actually been paying out for .
