Was out last night with a few mates, one of them my bro's best mate and we got talking about his old car which had been forgotten about. Bro now lives in Alaska and loads of other places since the car was locked away, so he obviously hasn't bothered with the car in a long time. So after much talking about it over some beer etc.. i decided that today i was going to have a look and take pics! Car only has small amount of rust as in the pics, there is no rust anywhere else, so it's majorly mint shell wise.
Been sat in this lockup for years

Hasn't seen daylight for years!

Tax last bought in Dec 02' just a few weks before it was garaged

Wandered where my mint wheel was!!!

True, it was like that when it was put away, not as bad, but they were just starting off, just shows how much longer a car will last if it's stored in a garage regularly.

Can't remember, i think a figure of 112mph is right, dunno why, just seem to remember than number for some reason. No not been in that garage for a long long time, i have the other one with my 4x4 in it and one at my house so i don't venture to that area often.

i was a fiat techie forman at this erra in 1990 and we had a few of these babies coming in and out for service and repairs and stuff, these were an absolute hoot on the road and given a bit play with boost and stuff they were giving out circular or around 170bhp and in a light weight uno shell, they were fun. only soft part was gearboxs i can remeber and clutches brings back memories that does lol....
That brings back so many memories! I had a red F-plate Uno Turbo back in the day, was a wicked little thing that used to eat front tyres.
I cut the springs on mine and fitted a manual boost controller, was a hoot for a month then the gearbox exploded! Sat outside for nearly a year had a hell of a bother getting another gearbox, then sold it too a mate who put it on its roof
Was running 3 -spoke alloys too
* edited to add, I didnt read the post above mine before I wrote this! ironic!

Not for sale I'm afraid, checked it over yesterday and it's not seized so will manage to get it fired up with a bit of a good going over. It'll stay in the garage justnow as I'm doing my 2WD at the garage at home justnow so don't have the space until it's done. Think i'l use the time to try and source some parts for it i.e drivers wing and passenger door, aswell as calipers etc.

True, i thought i'd be alot worse by now!
Brakes have royally seized though, so it won't move, also, i could hardly even move the gearstck it was that tough, engine turns over ok though so thats the main thing.

I've had 4 of those motors here in Rome, very fast if modded properly!.
That looks like the rare antiskid model, the best looking mk1 IMO.
We had 1 fitted with a highly modded Lancia delta evo-1 turbo16v engine that would out accelerate superbikes!.
The gearboxs on the mk1 uno turbo was shiyte 'cos it used the same
'box fitted to the old strada 105 TC's,3rd was always the first
to go.
They are collecters items now, especially the ABS/antiskid versions.

Your obviously well clued up on them then, 100% correct!
The box however was replaced in 99/2000 i think with the later type. He had some parts to put on it like Tipo 16v brakes etc but never got around to it, should have added at the start, one of the main reasons for the car being locked away was that it was vandalised/attempted theft, hence the dent on the drivers wing.
Brother got a knock on his door one day by a traffic warden to tell him he "couldn't leave his car in the road like that" he had no idea what the guy was on about, so went and found the car with no windows and wheels just lying in the road, they hadn't even bothered leaving it on bricks...
Anyway insurance company wanted to right the car off just because the windows were smashed and the wheels stolen, so he fixed it and put the old wheels on and put it in the garage.

cool
i had a mk1 about 4/5 years ago in red had black stripes on back was running 170bhp 15psi
it looked cool had some 15" oz superleggacey on with koni's and struts which kept it stiff cuz they sway like a boat standard.
i remember having a go with a focus rs upto bout 130mph and a big black cloud of smoke kicked out the exhaust lol i blow the turbo which are ihi on the 1.3's and it took me ages to get another one, i ended up getting one from germany in the end only cost Ł100 which i was happy bout.
i fitted new turbo then got rid of it with some regret
i think ive got some pic's somewhere ill av a look

Cool,I used to have a white H plate one of these. It really did get its head kicked in everywhere
,needless to say I kept breaking it.I even managed to rip one of the gearbox mounts completely inside out chasing a damn fiesta si around a roundabout.Result = out comes the drive shaft
.Even though I have a Cosworth now I would love another of these little pocket rockets.
awesome little cars!
my mate had a black mk2 H655 WAM was the number plate; the amount of abuse it took was unreal, but it never broke!
the problem with his one was it rotted really bad and handled like a boat

nice one mate! get over onto www.turbocollective.net. I'm a moderator on there!
Get it restored mate, as we're getting rare on the ground! You'll struggle to find a mint door. Mk1 and mk2 doors are the same (except a couple of things on the internal frame but don't worry about that, just find a mint door) also, mk1 and mk2 front and rear brakes are the same so either will fit. Gearbox wise, try going for a mk2 gear box conversion with the hydrolic clutch. the mk2 boxes are basicly fiat tipo boxes and are much stronger. Nice to see a mk1 with the original graphics too!
here's mine, both mk2's tho!

the white ones getting a 2.0 turbo lancia lump fitted soon
Keep the thread updated matey, anything u need to know just PM me! as i said, try us on turbo collective for parts and questions.
