looks awesome. I cant see anything overkill really. making something as good as it can be is never overkill.

Remember its a stripped out car not a road trim vehicle that will only get driven to and from the shops/shows.

The only limit is his budget.

small update,

got my TIAL 44m v band external wastegate through from reyland, and my manifold spacer plate,

also my hart plenum cover with reverse throttle cable brackets and o rings etc, none of this is urgent yet but wanted to get these things mocked up on Andrews dummy engine just to check clearances etc to be safe,

That plenum would look lovely powdercoated, im still indecisive on what im using either this one or scs type, depends on the engine bay room i suppose, are you going to fettle the inards of the plenum for optimun flow or happy with it the way it is? a couple of people have said this on high bhp engines. im hoping for roughly 650 ponies.

i wont be going as high as 650bhp mate thats for sure but yes the inside of the manifold does need polishing out as its still a rough cast finish, im not sure whether to save money and do this myself or give it to someone in the know with all the right tools to get right in there ya know,

looks like a great manifold though with proven results to back it up

Taking shape nicely, what was the reason for the lump removal? is that the inner arch area?

for better wheel clearance,, not much room between cam pulleys and bonnet, and engine doesnt want to be any lower because of shaft angle,(wheel wants to be inline with the engine)and can't go back as this would effect outer cv angle on inside front wheel when on full lock .
easy to chuck it in but takes a bit of messing about to get it right.

If i was building this cage i would have made these tubes meet rather than have them independant on a sheet metal part.

IIRC its not sheet metal, the top mount is machined from a billet. There are pics of it elsewhere in this thread.

They look like pressed shet metal parts but i might be wrong.

From memory FIA regs insist all tubes should meet on a tube within 100mm of its end at these points.

if they all met then they would have the same allround support , (they would want to tip up under heavy landing)

looking great Andrew, thanks for the update especially as your on a break at the moment

do you think wheel clearance will be ok now you have taken out that extra bit of inner arch or should any further steps be taken just incase as the last thing i want is something trivial like wheels rubbing under full lock cornering or braking! what do you think mate?

DOUG - the top mounts are billet steel as Andrew has said so having the cage load spread out nicely over them is fine by me for a track car, heres the mounts before fitting

if its that close do you think there will be enough room for the turbo compressor housing then or is it ok as it sits further back?

also will the top mounts need the bonnet cutting out like your focus?
