I will look into these at a later date if they end up being needed but good to know the stuff is out there
I have sorted some rear brakes now that will clear the steering arms
Ap330mmx28mm discs with ap cp5200 calipers, i have also bought some brand new ds3000 pads which should be here tomorrow
The bells are some that were given to me by graham (Thanks mate) and need a good clean up and 4.5mm taking off the face as they are too thick and do not leave a lot of hub left for the wheel to sit/locate on so with 4.5mm removed it still leaves 8mm thick alloy and allows 10mm hub for the wheel to sit on
The calipers ended up being leading calipers which were totally wrong for the car they were fitted to much to the owners suprise when i pointed it out but means i can mount them in the leading position and allows me to use a shorter brake line which is always good
Bit of a bench dummy fit
And a shot from the rear showing the caliper does clear the steering arm and just about leaves enough room for a bracket to be made
I have contacted Mark from MK MOTORSPORT to see if he could make up cnc brackets to suit for me so will see how busy he is etc and go from there
I have also asked him if it would be possible to make me some bells for the rear that match my wrc front bells, which have slots around the bell, as being a bufty id like them to match, like these
Hopefully once i get brackets done the rear end set up is fully complete

Yes I have found out this morning from ap you can swap the bleed nipples
And fluid pipe to opposite ends but the fluid pipe needs to be replaced as it won't re seal after being fitted but these had not been swapped and had been used with the wrong piston the wrong way up so that pads had only worn at one end so although they weren't old they had to be binned and replaced
As said I have now got new pads coming as the fella I got them off (Cossierich) kindly agreed to refund pad cost,

No real updates of late, just planning things to be done,
Off to see Mark @ MK Motorsport in the morning to drop these off so he can make my custom brackets to mount the ap calipers to the wrc uprights
And got my new DS3000 pads through for the calipers, so gave them a clean up then put them in place
As i have all the uprights, flange, discs and wheel bolted together ready to go to Marks in the morning i decided to weigh it, i balanced a caliper on top to get the total weight, and with aloowing a little extra for a bracket and bolts the wheel/upright and brake set up weighs a staggering 43kg a corner! If i ever get really fussy about this weight saving lark then im sure you could save a load of unsprung weight by using different components
Also if anyone is in the market for a lathe and wants a try a it then this little lot is now for sale as i want to upsize, although it's small i have done a few pukka little parts with it and now find a lathe invaluable in the garage

I took a few pics of the new front stoppers
cp5555 trailing 6 pots with ds3000 pads, when i go to MK's to collect the rear brakes with brackets and bells he has made me i will measure up for the front ones then they can be fitted
Should stop pretty well i think
Thanks
Marc

Hope so fella
Not really done anything on the car, the new bells and brackets have been made by MK Motorsport but I couldn't collect this weekend which is just as well as weve had this bit of snow,
Just to keep myself tinkering I have started making this yesturdayl
Not finished yet, and it is actually 2 in the pics as il keep 1 and sell one when done
Will finish them off tomorrow if I'm home early
Hopefully I will collect my brake set up from Mark this weekend coming and have my diff back from Steveboyslim
Updates next weekend I'd say

Lovely brakes, i have the same 4 pots but on the front of mine.
I would like to have the 4 pots on the back eventualy and have 6 pots up front like yours, not untill cars finished though as other things tto spend on atm.

10K+ Poster!!
Good stuff Marc, be interesting to see but not sure I have the patience to go that far, I'll just stick to my red paint marker lol
Great work as ever though.

Thanks to Mark @ MK Motorsport once again
Went up to see him today and collect some parts that he had sorted for me,
Due to the larger rear steering arm set up i am using i needed a complete custom bracket and bell set up for the ap 4 pots i am using so a few weeks ago i dropped the hubs etc off to Mark and he came up trumps as usual
new deep dish bells with 203mm pcd, expansion holes and a few lightening holes in the center, also in the picture is one of the rear caliper mounting brackets that is angled so the caliper clears the large steering arm
Bracket and caliper fitted
Bell sat in place , no pics of discs etc all fitted up as i did not have time to mess around when i got back so will post lots more pics once the parts have been anodized and fitted back to the car
I also got Mark to face off my flanges as i noticed they were a little uneven due to the way i did the pressing in of the studs, so that's been done and i will re fit studs in a different way as i do not recommend using a press as it can deform the flange if not careful
Thanks again Mark, stunning parts as always, look forward to getting the other brackets and bits back at the end of the week

PassionFord Post Whore!!
I absolutely love this car, the attention to detail, level of commitment to it.
I wish i had the time and money to do this instead of forever having to make do with what i can.

Last year i was in the process of having a mk5 4wd car built but gave up after spending 14k of my 20k budget and knowing i wouldnt be able to get it done under 30k, i loathe spending that on a toy when i dont keep my day to day cars for more then a month!

looking good mark
imo i wouldnt use the wheel to pull the studs in even tho yours are grp a fit etc as you have to tighten the studs FT to pull them all the way in
the way i done it in the past is to use a stack of m12 washers and an old wheel nut and a simple spanner
its up to you of course but i wouldnt risk damaging the wheels lol
ps FT = fucking tight lol
