you made me wondered if the etch would react over fully cured paints so i double checked and it is suitable to be sprayed straight onto fully cured paint but obviously its pointless using etch to do that as there is no bare metal for it to etch to, but it wont react or anything for now

well after Dingla pulling me up on putting etch primer over other paint etc it started to bug me and i though the bodyshop will probably not bare metal the door shuts and window surrounds so off comes Ł24 worth of etch primer, all door shuts and sills etc taken down to bare metal and i have already given it another coat of etch primer, the actual outside quarter part and pillars are staying covered till final paint as they will be done carefully by bodyshop.
will need a good coat of high build primer later on to cover the slight marks etc from the flap disc but will be fine.
Bough this off ebay ready for that stage

Got Dave round thursday with his compressor so we can get the GRAVITEX PLUS stone chip on the underside and inside quarter panels so that will probably be the next update

loking god marc that primer looks good for the job but i would use one of these air fed masks if your spraying it .the isocyanates are toxic .

done a bit of sealing today on the front end, only got the drivers wing inner and outer 99% done, i started using masking tape to keep it neat as suggested but it took forever to mask off and i was getting in a mess taking it off after applying the sealer so i sacked it off and just gunned it on and brushed it on nice and thick
Its not as neat as it could be i admit but its there for one reason and thats to keep the joins and welds covered not look pretty so once its painted it will be fine for what i want,
Dave is round tomorrow to do stone chip so that will be a nice bit of progress

got the new brake fitting through from Andrew today so welded that into the passenger side front wing as i accidently damaged the last 1 with the wire wheel,
thanks for sending the new fitting Andrew
Then i cracked on with the seam sealing of the front end and to be honest im not very happy with it and i am starting to wondered whether i should of left all the welds around the turrets and front wing sections etc bar
Im sure once there is paint on it all it will look a million times better but its nowhere near as pleasing to the eye as the welds were bare but it is only there for one reason and thats to keep the water out and make it last so im not scraping it all off again now but it is the only part of the prep im not happy with so far and think other people will comment on about being a let down at this stage.
Anyway got some more stone chipping to do tomorrow so we can hopefully put the underside and engine bay into paint on tuesday if all goes to plan

The plan is focus st170 magnum grey for the inside, underneath and engine bay and focus rs frozen White on the outside, but now I'm note sure of the colour combo and can't find any White and grey examples on cars to help make up my mind,
Got to get the paint Monday so need to decide this weekend on the colour for inside underneath and engine bay
