Question Best basis for a project car?

What would be the better cheap basis for a late model project? A car with flood damage but no body damage, or a car with some front end accident damage? Both types are available at auction, but I'm not sure if a wet, straight car is better than a dry but bent car.

for a track car take the flood damaged one and replace the whole loom. youll want to bin lots of it and prolly the std engine anyway. Anything else will leave you with permanent electrical gremlins (unless it was just a broken wondow and a wet carpet :P

For a road car I wouldnt risk a damp wiring looom and there is less work in fixing light front end damage than there is in stripping the whole car to replace all the wiring if youre going to put it all back in.

TBH for me, the best project cars are snapped cambelts and suchlike. Crane engine out, replace and go.

Main concern of mine was whether the possibility of a not perfectly straight car is preferable over one that might have numerous future outbreaks of rust, just waiting to happen.

I wouldnt worry about the rust if youre stripping it for a track car.

if its not perfectly straight when youve fixed it you bought the wrong car.

Thanks all for the info. Either way seems as good as the other. I guess it will all depend on whether or not it could be registered when done.
