Well Finally got round to getting the engine bay prepped and painted. First was a heavy coat of filler primer:
We then rubbed that down with 800 wet and dry to give as smoother finish as was possible. Then we degreased it and went for paint:
To say im happy with result is an understatement the finish is form the gun so gonna let it harden for a few weeks whilst the engine is biult and then ill polish the slam panel and inner wings.
Also had to do the passengers mirror as some numpty opened their door on it when it was last parked outside my house!
Let me know what you think???

Just a samll update for those who have been keeping an eye on the thread. Started to piece back the engine bay today, began by cleaning the loom and re-taping where needed, i then fitted new wiring loom bay clips along with the heater box, new fuel filter and general bit sand bobs,

Fans Arrived to day so job today was to fit the intercooler and fans permanently.
Had to drill the crossmember to fit the rad mount. Then fitted the Fans using the clips however not sure if i used them the right way round or not??? then had to shave some out of teh back of the bumper but sol glad it all fits and still looks original from the front which is what i wanted. engine is away being bored out, gearbox casing is at the machine shop being milled to accept the bigger bearing so all coming along nicely.

Hi there, this used to be my car on the Isle of Wight years a go. have had 6 rst`s, this one i bought from some one that it had sat on there drive for 5 years, i put the mint recaros you see in it today in there sorted a few engine issues and sold it on. I had a S1 at the time and did not need to keep it. The work you have done looks amazing great quality resto well done mate. The recaros came out of a 49k completely standard island reg rst that was involved in an accident and was written off, think we put the carpet wheels and seats in lpu, fancy a chat any time mate PM me.

Had a phone call this morning to go collect my engine block and pistons, so off we went to go collect them. Once we returned we set to cleaning off all the crappy paint, gave it 4 coats of nitro morse and this is thr best i could get it.
Started to fit the pistons in the block and noticed that number 2 had a broken top ring tried for ages to find somewhere that would have rings for the xe piston and just for one piston but as luck would have it the engine builder we used for the boring came good with a spare set , fitted that and the head, timed it up and set to fitting it to the car,
pic of the pistons etc finally fitted
engine installed into the car
Fitting went really well no drama's and she also started pretty much first time so im well happy, get soem run in miles done then have it rolling roaded,
a quick vid
