FRST engine rebuild
ok folks, as mention in GD, my cambelt snapped today, so, an unplanned rebuild is about to begin........
spent the afternoon stripping it down to see the damage
rocker cover off, boost pipes off
the start of a boot full of bits
head off, just one bent valve, but will replace them all i think, peace of mind and replace the tappets and the valve stem oil seals whilst i'm at it
number three is scorched/burnt and also had a slap on it from the bent valve
one of the three snapped bolts
the bolts left in the block
headgasket was ok though
tomorrow i'll be stripping the head and deciding what to do in regard to the pistons, new or not...........

managed to get out one of the snapped head bolts but the other two aren't shifting for fook all..... so, just off to see the man that can remove them....
smits, i would look at drilling them out, but knowing my luck at the min, would prob make a right mess of it, so, as i'm not all that sure about removing them, would rather my guy do it that specialises in it........
providing they come out, no need to look for another block, which i'm having a wee look for now.......
will update the pics later on when i get home

well, found my lead, so can upload yesterdays pics, not been able to do any more today as head has gone to be skimmed and have my guy coming tomorrow to hopefully (fingers crossed) remove the 2 remaining headbolts that snapped.....
nice and clean
all the valves out
all my bits and bobs removed from the head
the valves when they were removed
and after they've been tidied up
ordered some goodies today too, so will post up when they arrive

update time, well, i have finished the build, kept forgetting my camera-d'oh, have done around a 120 miles since the rebuild, and all seems to be fine, apart from the exhaust knocking on the hand brake bolts under the car, will post some pics up of the finished article as i chose to do a little painting whilst it was all in bits and tidy up of wiring whilst i was in there too.
will get out and take some engine bay pics once it stops p1ssing it down

ok, so i managed to get some pics in between the down pours
went for some crackle finish on the rocker and cross over
whilst everything was apart managed to get a coat of paint on the gearbox and the block
as i snapped the bolts in the heat shield and it was looking tatty, heatwrapped the manifold and down pipe
