Jacko does not have to give a refund as he has offered to re do it, BUT his reputation is shot and fortunately for you Martin you only paid Ł1500 for a Ł4000 job so get your bloke to charge you Ł2500 and you have not lost anything unlike Jacko which should help you smile!

yep still going i agree with what you said i think every body should cool off & stop turning this thread to shit its martins car so lets just let him carry on with his resto & leave jacko alone he doesnt deserve this bitching & slagging every day just based on one car when he probably does 100,s every year .he has stepped upto the mark & offered to fix it what more do you people want blood .

yes andy ,
just trying to lighten the mood a little ,
soooo much negativaty on this thread atm ,
regarless of all the faults its still going to be one seriously cool car ,
i feel bad for both parties ,
shit happens ,
so will the autopsy show exactly what the issue was then ?
maybe the pics can be used to seek compensation by jacko from the paint supplier ??

Been following this thread from the start just to eventually see the end result.
I don't know either party involved and I really hope it gets sorted so that a really nice car gets finished.
Reason for my post is on page 22 of this thread (not very good with computers to add links so you'll have to go look) Jacko has typed he bare metaled everything barring the roof so why is there moonstone on the osr quarter panel or am I missing something?
And I'm not trying to stir anything up here just curious.

Been following this for a while now I used to work in a paint shop for a bit and we had this problem a couple of times in winter it was caused by the damp in the air causing moisture on the car because the boss would only let the car warm in the booth for a minimal time to warm up and not dry the car so moisture still remained on the surface and hence was painted over
The first time we had it the paint started to spot in a few days the next time it was months later the customer had the car back and had been very happy with the finish only to find about 8 months later the spot's appering on his car when we got the back in and sanded the car back you could see the spots in the base coat caused by the damp the only way to repair this was to sand all the paint of we had put on and start again (boss learnt a valuable lesson stop being a tight ass and let us use the booth for what its ment) all in the bid to save money and time but ended up doing neither.

Why doen martin say it was only bare metal on the front wings and bonnet where jacko claims it was everything apart from the roof? Im martins rear quarter picture you can see moonstone?

The pictures I posted were of the arch from the rear quarter and sill skirt.

Just read through the whole thread and was expecting to see a finished rs500 at the end with loads of pics etc, you have robbed me of part of my life![Sad](https://passionford.com/forum/images/smilies/icon_sad.gif)
What sort of facilitys was the car painted in? Ive seen this happen when a car has been painted outside a booth in a workshop where a simple fan has been used and the floor has been watered. Its not professional to slag other peoples work as things do go wrong somtimes so I say nothing. What I will say though is that I tend to use better paint than what as been used, lessonal is pony paint usally used for trade jobs where the car trader wants a silly cheap job to move the car on. Glausrit is meant to be ok but I would still not use it though as I believe there are better paints out there, if I had painted the car I would have maybe gone base and clear or used a yacht paint called Awlgrip, super high quality, durable and I have never seen a direct gloss shine so much. I painted this yesterday

im sure martin feels, a whole lot batter knowing that glen ,
unfortunately sometimes it dosent take much to harm a rep , and sometimes once the damage is done it cant be undone ,
if martin and jacko have came to an agreement over comepensation then they can draw a line under it and move on ,
but like most things with this site , this situation will be brought up when anyone asks for recommendations on blueoval garages , just as positve comments will now doubt get mentioned ,
its the olds saying of " shit tends to stick "
beef

Wow, a lot of diluded, clueless replies all through this thread from people who want to jump on the band wagon. I've seen loads of jobs from Jacko, I don't even know the man on a personal or professional stand point, but the amount of jobs I've seen done by his hand is perfection. Who cares if he's had a few cock ups through his own fault or because of the materials used, sh*t happens...if he owns up to it then what's the big deal? It just so happens its a car that's getting a lotta views on this forum, no biggy is it?!

Not going to get in to the debate of paint as to be perfectly honest my painting skills with cars goes as far as Halfords rattle cans for small bits of trim!
However, love the first pics of the 3 RS500s at your wedding, very nice indeed and do hope this gets rolling soon as black is my fav colour for the RS500 and looking forward to seeing this finished on here, is it going to stay subtle as in looking stock part from the wheels then?

Progress so far ....
The rear beam, shocks and springs are all fitted as are the fuel lines.. Anyone got an Escos diff mount I can buy??
Hopefully this week will see the engine and front suspension installed.
Chris the paint guy has started stripping the front bumper, it ooks like its going to be a hard slog as the black paint peels off in strips but under that there is what appears to be polyester spray filler that seems to be half a mm thick in places :-(
