I had a mk1 back in 1988 that was even worse, and it was only 10yrs old .
Everyone I buy seems to have spent most of its time on the bottom of the sea ...
I don,t know why but I seem unable to scrap cars..there must be something wrong with my head

Right a little update,I,ve eventually got round to stripping the rear axle out to have it powder coated and get the poly bushes in etc,the tank is removed , cleaned up , red leaded and ready for paint, the next step is to tip the car on its side red lead it all then a good thick coat of Diamond white..

I also just got another car for spares , and got it for a decent price locally

If you get stuck for parts or setting up, the carbs are off a Maestro apprently..

Cheers for that Tocca, do you know if you can still fit a front strut brace, with the twin carbs fitted.

I think there is room for a strut brace mate. If you can fit one with a zetec in there you can fit one with twin 40's
