Scoring components
The following values will be allocated to the major components used:
Where there is evidence that two vehicles have been welded together to form one (ie 'cut and shut') a 'Q' mark will be allocated, IVA, ESVA, SVA or MSVA will be required.
The following values will be allocated to the major components used:
- chassis or body shell (body and chassis as one unit - monocoque ie direct replacement from the manufacturer) (original or new) = 5 points
- suspension = 2 points
- axles = 2 points
- transmission = 2 points
- steering assembly = 2 points
- engine = 1 point
Where there is evidence that two vehicles have been welded together to form one (ie 'cut and shut') a 'Q' mark will be allocated, IVA, ESVA, SVA or MSVA will be required.

i looked on the websites about this and completly understand, but. . what about all the other cars out there thats been changed? wenny still as his original plates on, theres a white turbo 4x4 cos at all the shows with its original plate, boost performance built one to, what about rally cars that have there floors, turrets etc changed, as for the sierra floor, turrets, suspension, steering and axles well they are being used as they were intended, they havent been altered from manufacturer they just not in the same car ford put them in lol, ive seen mk2 escorts with sierra floor pans, im a little concerned as i am collecting parts to do one myself, i thought it was about identifying the age of the vehicle as to wether it goes on a 'q' plate? thers also something about a date and wether it was built before a certain time so mine was done years ago, lol, just was not decleared. . . . bit like the council and there plans
thx

karl i meant vertical from side of car not rear ,also how do you know what offset there is between upright and strut to work out were wheel flange ends up with out having upright ,you have to have caster on rear strut like on front ,so srtut top dosent end up in middle of arch

well i asked these questions to you mark ??
theres 6 degrees of camber in the rear turret if you were stood @ the back panel looking thru the car ,
like this
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update1-12-2010002.jpg)
the turrets tacked vertically level if you look thru the car like this
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/update1-12-2010005.jpg)
obvioulsy theres the eccentric top mount to go in that i thought would give us enough camber adjustablilty f-r
and as the shock has to have mounts welded to it the plan was to make the top bolt mount of the hub bracket slotted in an arc, so the hub to shock can be adjusted ?
ideally id love the bits here to set it all in before mounting them , but hubs aint ready and me fabs times limited as you know , that aint a dig , i know your on with them and have been waiting on me so to speak ,
also they are just tacked into postiotion mate, if you have some measurements i can use they would be greatly appriceated
but ill be honest mate some of this is guesswork for us , after all it wasnt made for the car , and we havent fitted one before so were putting them in to where we thought was best ,

no mate i knwo your not being funny ,
we just have to set measurements to work from ??
![](http://i48.photobucket.com/albums/f227/bigdogengland/s1.png)
obv red is the centerline thru arch and wheel as it says ,
the blue represents the coilover , but doesnt take into account the left to right viewing pic ( would technially be front to rear ) camber adjusment the top mount should give??
is that what your getting at mark m8
??

ok so had a lengthy chat with mk on the fone ,
basically the rear turret needs to positioned incar in the same position as the front turret is ,
basically transferring the front dims to the rear ,
so with mk on standby on the fone tomorrow , me a k will re measure were we are and then were we need to be ,
and go from there,
tbh , its not worried me or dampend my spirits 1 bit , we aint perfect lol ,
but least there only tacked in position rather than fully welded !!

my rear turrets are pretty much vertical by the looks of these pics beef, and this is how Andrew did them so im sure there good enough to get the castor needed, the eccentric top mount can move the top of shock back and the comp struts can pull the hub forward so i assume thats enough for the castor to be adjusted correctly with room to suit,

technically for registration purposes your fucked beefy since the introduction of SVA and then IVA.
Q plate is the only legal option.
of course you could carry on anyway as you are and just hope one day that you dont get caught out at MoT time when they upgrade the MoT system to catch out modified vehicles.
Your get out of jail is to claim the shell work was done prior to 1999 as it would be exempt then based on the regulations at the time.
Alternatively you need a friendly DVLA man to come inspect your "rebuilt" vehicle and to overlook the modifications to the chassis. the suspension etc is undatable so they wont be bothered about that. That way its listed as having been inspected by DVLA and passed on the system so then the MoT men cant do fuck all then, niether can roadside VOSA inspections. Sadly its finding a friendly DVLA man thats hard these days.
the other method which is more watertight (and what i would recommend for MK's fiesta) is going down the kit car/kit conversion route. What makes it hard for you beefy is your shell isnt new....
To get away with it under the kit car rules you would need a receipt to show your "chassis" was built by Karl and sold to you as a new chassis. Doesnt matter that it looks like a mk3 escort. Plenty of kit cars use parts of a chassis or body parts from other cars including cut and shut beetle chassis being a prime example and all can get through SVA/IVA on a age related or new plate.
especially with your car MK, id see if you can get AG to put it down on paper as a brand new custom one off fabricated shell (which it is).
Then you just have to comply with the rules of donor parts for age related plate or all new (with one reconned part) to get a new registration.
The car would not be a ford on the log book but whatever you choose to call it and would be issued with a DVLA Vin number starting with SABTVR unless you got AG or karl to make one up for you in the correct format thats unique.
lots of people get rally specials and one offs through perfectly legally that way. theres plenty of cars where people have made the chassis at home or used cut and shut chassis as the basis of their build and dont need a Q plate. eg my car used a brand new shell modified by DJM then sold as a kit to pumaspeed. that got issued with a DVLA vin number and kept enough donor parts when tested to get the age related plate.
the only difference with going down the kit car route is you are creating a new vehicle identity and the original identity WILL be lost, but the advantage is you are legally able to avoid the Q plate thing.
also no MoT for 3 years
