hi , theres abit more of an update , not been able to go see the car this weekend as iam working on the house extension(another project) so iam going next sat so should be some good progress with the shell . first of all i went to pick these up from ian the extra 4 injector blocks but theres a bit of modding that needs to be done
i need to fit the vacuum takeoffs
machine a block of alloy so i can fit my throttle body
weld on the fuel rail brackets
and grind out the bottom inlet section as its 45mm wide and weve stepped up a size to 48mm so just need a bit of felting
also to fully clean the inlet to mack sure theres no swarf / dirt etc
heres some more pics of the inlet
trumpets inside the inlet section
inside lip that needs opening out to 48mm
throttle body needs block to open out to 67mm
8 injector set up with twin banks and fuel rail with need welding somewhere
ive also brought some other items
25mm sill kits x2 so i can work on the car more easily at home and x2 cds seat sub frames which i will take to jim next week to weld in and also a cobra evolution pro race seat, cant believe how much theses fuckin things cost , so heres a few pics.
hoping to order the full wrc rear quarters next week , god more spending
cheers paul
p.s i will take some more pics of the inlet on the engine
p.p.s oscar the parrot says hello

finally been down to jims today @ alloy racing fabrications and the car is finally taking some sort of shape , all the bulkhead , big tunnel , rear diff tunnel , rear seats plated , drivers rear floor cut out and plated , exhaust tunnel mod to the centre tunnel and passenger floor raised by 3" so we can fit the exhaust silences and side exit exhausts. dropped my race seat off and it fits perfect which we must admit was a stroke of luck and guess work so he can now mount the seat rail kits and hes also doing the sill mount kits. got to buy top mounts , and the jwrc full rear quaters and fit the full bodykit then it may look like a mk6 fiesta lol. iam going to see jim at the start of november so we can send a day designing and mounting the diff and fabricating the pick up points for the rear diff cradle and finally finish the rollcage off.
i also had to take the new jenvey inlet down to see what room weve got and i must admit that the mk6 engine bay is massive when the battery tray has been taken out and theres still plenty of room
anyway i'll let the pics do the talking and jim should be sending me some more over so i will post them when i get them
rear wheel well cut out and plated
rear diff tunnel , rear seat plated and passenger floor raised
same but the other side
rear seat plate
drivers side new floor plate fully seam welded
boxing for centre diff and front prop shaft
plated and seam welded bulkhead
front section of the big tunnel
front engine mounts
and finally the new jenvey inlet and still so much room at the inn
i will post some more pics when jim sends them over
thanks for looking
cheers paul

looking good mate,, only thing i would say is with the length of the engine mount arms it will put a lot of pressure on the block, may pull the studs out or break it, you always want to keep them short,,

p.s great show at this year totb , made me laugh though 9.5 sec and the slicks still had the little rubber bobbles on when new cause you didnt light the tyres up before setting off, my fav ford of all time along with the 2000bhp granada from norway

well its time for a little update . theres not to much going on as its nearly crimbo but still doing bits and bobs. right first of all i decided that instead of using the pumaspeed bond on arches i would bit the bullet and buy some full rear quaters with arch built in from mdv , these are full kelvar and very well made and reasonable for £540 inc vat and delivery for both sides. i arranged to go and see jim as i was off work on friday so we talked about all the outstanding work that needs finishing off and some more mods . my main concern was the engine mounts as andrew gallagher gave me some sound advice and said they where far to long so these will be redone with the rollcage also being finished. we spent about 2hours cutting the metal wing off and fine tuning the metal work to get the perfect fit for the jwrc wing but it looks spot on. i think iam also going to buy the rear bumper from mdv as it will bolt straight up and follow the lines far better. i think iam still going to use the pumaspeed front wing and bumper but we will see how they fit together.
so heres some pics so far
nice and wide lol
front wings but there grey so you dont really see them
ive said this once and i will say it again i cant believe how much room there is in the bay
also ported out the inlet manifold from 45mm to 48mm to match the other jenvey parts , i still need to fit x2 jic fittings for vacuum and fit the air temp sensor. the jenvey spacers are going back to have o rings grooves machined in them and jenvey said they will take my diffuser back and swap it for a 70mm one designed for the evo inlet for £28 extra . the inlet on the evo made 730bhp and on the standard inlet made 680bhp so iam hoping for good things.
heres some boring pics of before and after of the porting
cheers paul
