Hello mate, awesome work with the car for a start
wanted to ask, with the electro plating i assume it doesnt matter if you plate over the threads and bearing faces etc?
also if thats the case is there any reason why you couldnt get the complete front hub and hub flange electro plated?
how durable is it once done?
thanks
marc

ok time for another update
finally got round to widenening the arches
what idid was clean up the insides, drill all the spot welds from inner and outer and pull them apart
now i wanted to keep the original lines of the car and ive just managed to do it but i have at least 3-4 mm clearence now of the wheels which is enough for me
so heres some pics
after widenening bare in mind these over lapped and now they sit flush
then i seam welded the joins together and then put extra plates round the lot to give its strength back
then it was primered and seam sealed
to give the clearence i was after
not much but next is skyline gearbox

another update, the skyline gearbox tunel is finished to a point where im happy, but it may need a slight mod later on when the time comes to fit it properly, i dont know yet, plus i may have made it a sliht bit higher, but rather do it this way than have it too low
so the 1st bit was to cut the gearstick hole, i made a quick template of and marked where i need to cut
all cut out
i also cut the side of the tunnel for the transfer box
i then put the gearbox into place, only to see that i needed to cut a bit more as the gearbox has a plate on it which is higher than the gear stick, so ended up wwith a hole like this
gearbox now in place
now with a 20mm adaptor plate i need the gearbox to sit 5cm from the bulkhead and ive just done it, i carnt get the gearbox any further back without major mods
i then noticed the rear of the gearbox pushing the metal up, so while the box sat in place i drilled some holes and snipped the metal out until it was free again, and ended up with this
seat all in, and it still moves forwards and backwards easily
how the gearstick will sit
then i welded it all up, as i dont have the special equiptment to form metal i had to do it instages, so it looks a mess, but its strong and you wont see it, all the top and underneath are full welded up
how the gearbox sits under the car
and operating 3 jacks on ya own witha skyline gearbox is a pain but i managed to do it lol
i then dressed the welds up, didnt want to do too much as it loses strength, i then primered, then painted then seam sealed just togive it a bit more protection, after it will have paint again then sound deadening then primered and painted again
the underneath will be done wehn i get the car on its side later this month
next is the rear beam bolts as i have to drill these out and weld nuts into chassis legs as one of the owners cross threaded both main bolts
and a couple of pics of it outside as i had to use the garage to do an engine conversion ona fiesta

the adapator plate should be a bolt on, but the skyline bell housing wll need modding for start motors being on the other side to a cossie
an the adaptor plate i will be around 20mm hence ive moved the box back far enough to compensate for the plate

another little update
i finished sound deading the whole car again and also strengthened my rear turrets up
the sound deadening
the turrets, basically boxed them in, took me 2 days to work out how to do the plates, looks simple but i couldnt do it and was getting very very stressed as its so simple, got there in the end though, also seam welded the the complete strut before boxing it in
next is to start prepping the inside reay for paint
