rite time for a little update
ive finally moved into my flat now so decided to do some work on the car but thisis as far as i got as im saving for a bike at the minute, so may not be able to do anything until another 3 weeks now
but anyhow, i need to take my wings off as i want to go the wrc route so heres some pics of the ings being taken off lol
first sand the paint down to see the spot welds
what i did here was i drilled straight through as i wanted them to bolt back on, so i could just put the bolts back into the top and hopefully they will lineup as they should for bonnet cgaps, thouugh under the sidelight im going ot have to have make new holes as the wings will be stretched that much ive heard
then i sanded down the 2 bits of weld at the back of the wing and lower half that was attched to the sill and undone 2 bolts the wings came off lovely
and was surprised to see no rot underneath them either
how the car stands now with no wings on it
and i had these arrive aswell
the next job to do is change the front crossmember with a new one as the previous owner had crushed it by towing it up onto a trailer in the middle !! ford still do these, so may get this done asap now
then i just need to order my rear brakes and get the car rolling and it will be off to have the rear arches sorted for the new wheels i want under there
but thats it for now, but ill be back on it very very soon as id like ot get it finished by the end of the year

little update
ive got my wrc wings back now, also ordered my wheels and tyres, i have my tyres but wheels are still being made so hopefully not too long
anyhow some quick pics
how wide the wrc wing is
bonnet, headlights and grill in to get gaps correct, also skirts fitted and job was a good un
oh and a pic of my rear tyre, if you havnt guessed from the size there going to be 10x18s on the back with 265 tyres and 9x18s at the front with 235 tyres
next is to get the wheels and widen the rear quarters, then get it ready for paint

time for a little update as i managed to get a few days on the car
the main thing i wanted to do was make a crossmember as my one had been crushed at some point, these are £250 new if you can get one, so i went about and made one which was removeable to allow access for easy engine changes and also bigger intercooler
ok old crossmeber removed, as you can see it was pretty crushed, that much that when i cut through it the chassis leg moved back to its original position by at least quarter inch lol
big hole, also trimmed the headlight panels to open the gap up but to make them flush with teh chassis legs aswell
the new crossmember made from 2mm thick box section
i made some plates on the ends and welded captives to them, but forgot to take a pic, so this is where it bolts up and the finished end with the captives and when i tacked the crossmember to teh new plates
next was the towing eye
cleaned up
welded into postion, both sides
and to make sure it fitted i put the bumper back on
then i put strenghtening plates on the front part of the chassis legs for or if it gets towed then it has something to pull against, these are made up of 3mm angle iron
next was to make some bumper adjusters as i didnt have the bolts
the parts needed were theres, 2 bolts, lock nuts and 2 weld nuts
the adjusters
now looking i never took pics of the other steps, so will have to get some
but basically i welded the weld nuts to the square holes as this is the adjuster part
i then drilled the bumper support bracket where they go to allow access to the bigger bolt
then its just a case of bolting it all on, but putiing a lock nut at the top, loose so when you undo it it moves the adjuster and doesnt undeo the lock nut
but there on and they work lol
and on friday i had my wheels turn up and we tried them on a friends saf for a laff to see how wide they are lol
there 9x18s at front and 10x18s at back
