yes Dave once i got the chassis mounts in i will be making alloy group A style engine mounts
the chassis mounts will be modified so the engine sits 25mm higher but the bracket is 25mm lower so i can still fit my 2wheel drive exhaust manifold

ya, it has progressed well. am now debating with myself if i am going to fit a bdg, a zakspeed spec turbo bda or the YB i bought from harvey along with the new elite sequential.

decisions, decisions,.....lol

the shell should be finished within the next few weeks, gary had been busy and i didnt push him as all good things need time

i will post some resto pics soon, classic ford has somewhat forgotten the project so i do not owe them any exclusivity anymore.

let me get the newest shots from gary and i'll post them up

cheers, michael

glad to hear that the shell is nearly finished look forward to seeing the progress pics .as for which engine i really think you only got one choice to do the car justice & that would be to fit the zakspeed turbo spec BDA if you can get your hands on one that is .

as far as i know the 1400cc turbo motors used to make in excess of 550hp but used to be used in the zakspeed capri,s the escorts used to run 1998cc bdg engines n/a making 280hp.
the turbo escorts used to use bda turbo motors making around 400hp afaik

i would love to Warren but i all ready know that Michael is getting the car fully upgraded to full group 5 spec & Gary from Retromotorsport has the job of rebuilding the entire floor pan & roll cage with out damaging the external body work .so im pretty sure that he would not want me to cover his car with resin to take a mould off of it lol.

Could always take the non-destructive route of a 3d scanner, get the shape into a CAD package and either use the measurements to make something representative by hand or just get plugs machined up to get the moulds off.

Not saying it's cheap but is an option, especially if someone else wanted to have the possibility to replace any panels if they got damaged.

hey 10 layers of wax and 3 layers of PVA and it will be fine

An easier way might be go along with a bit bigger than wing/quarter sized foam blocks and start sculpting it around the wings before fettling it, sealing it etc then using it as a mould.

or if its the profile thats more important, then using simple balsa sheet make side profiles at 5cm intervals then make it into a 3 representation when home, fill gaps with foam, filler over top to smooth it then sand an paint for a good mould surface.

there were 3 different zakspeed engines in the gr5's....actually 4....

1430cc turbo, was the 1st turbo they made to remain under 2 liter (1.4 factor)

1745cc turbo, was the 2nd gen turbo bda, to remain under 2.5 liters (1.4 factor)

1830cc turbo, was the all out version for above 2500cc regulations

and a NA bdg with nikasil liners at 1993cc (more or less)

i collected most of the infos by now and will be building several of the turbo engines with the help of zakspeeds retired chief engine builder who i tracked down.

will pedley will be making those engines, as reyland and harvey refused to get involved.

i am sure mr. pedley will make a SUPERB job. am 100% confident hes the guy for it.

andy, i know almost everything about those monsters now and most of it i do not publish as this will be in the book i will release somewhen next year.

if u want to talk to me then dont hesitate, i do not bite.....
