The YB pump does not suffer with cavitation like "round the crank" pumps or cracking of rotors, as the rotor diamater is very small in comparision, neither does it suffer from any pressure spikes in extreme accelerating engines.

However going dry sump brings about MANY problems. One being excessive windage losses unless the belly of the sump pan is low enough, and the fact there are NO decent dry sump systems out there for a YB, means changing the standard YB pump whould for all intents and purposes be a backward step!

Obviously the weak link in the YB engine can be oil surge, but with a decent sump design, this is not an area for concern.

Battery is an Odyssey sealed gel race battery. I think the one on Lee's in a PC545 with round terminal adapters.

Same as the one in the white shed. Winged and gated although I dont have the winged one on at the moment.

Mine seems to sit a bit higher than Lees so I am gonna raise the mounts on his car and fit new rubbers to help.

The Avon tyres really are very low profile. Side by side with a 205 888 Toyo they sit almost 2 inches lower so at least an inch of sump clearance there!

I am also 1 gerzillion times more careful than Lee which is:

A) Not difficult
B) Helpful for the sump (although I have bashed mine a few times sonce running the Avons)

Well the keen amongst you will notice I have changed the thread title.

I did a final couple of bits today and then took it for a shakedown to see what broke, fell off or didnt work as expected.

Little bit of tinkering the fuel map and it was running really nice for a 10 mile test drive.

Good news is nothing fell off, caught fire, broke or misbehaved.

Drives really nice, all feels very tight and am really happy.

Geometry needs a little tinker as I have only set it up by eye at the moment.

Quick pic before I went for the drive.

Surely he will now have the job of fixing his "courtesy car" that must need a new gearbox, engine rebuild and new suspension after Lee has had it all this time to abuse

The courtesy car was revoked 6 months ago. I downgraded him to the landrover courtesy car which he ruined the brakes on too!!!! The red shed is tucked up safely away from Lee!!!

It will be my project for a couple of weeks now though.

Whats your plans for yours now Stu, fit the bumper etc?

It wont be long before Lee has a new engine built and that requires fitting

Nothing too much.

1. Pipe up the chargecooler
2. Fit more powerful alternator
3. Change gearbox oil
4. Fit the rear diffuser
5. Fit the big wing sump
6. Fit camera system and up work out how to use it!!

That's enough for now.

Oh

7. Kick Mannings arse on track lots.

sounds relatively relaxing compared to the work you have been doing on lee's

You should have installed a remote cutoff like they have on gokarts, so whenever you want to pass him you just press a button on your steering wheel and he slows down
