Spent all day making room for YUM and all its bits
Got a large container full of nuts and bolts not sure where they all go
Going to get Rad to paint my inlet manifold and also thing of the cam cover at the same time.
The car had a really good clean and wax, now under its cover for a few months.
Tax runs out end of Jan 2009 so going to cash that back in.
Just need Rod now to gets back on the dyno so we know where we are going with mine
Start work on the heatshield this week

Have you got any pictures of the block number, so we can see what batch it came from?
Also, what piston rings are being used, as there are some marks on number 1 that looks as though the rings have picked up on the bore. I only ask, as they look like standard Mahle pistons and the Nikasil liners need a special type of ring suitable to run with these liners?
Did you retain the head gasket at all, as it would be intersting to see this as well, to see what damage this sustained.
What are you going to do with the block?

Mike as the head gasket had let go on the first topspeed run and the engine had been subjected to over 8 topspeed runs its not a supprise for the pistons and bore to have had a hard time.

What an absolute nightmare, I remember reading the thread a couple of weeks ago detailing the lastest rebuild and all the trouble you were having with the gearbox..
I have so much respect for you rebuilding it again, i'd feel like throwing a match at it, so very well done, I hope all goes well next time for you

Rod will have his engine built 1st so he will be the Guinea pig so mark can do any more modifications

That's a shame to hear, after all that work, and that the joy from the recent figures achieved was short lived. But impressed you've not lost faith and got right back in the game, I can sympathyse with that

do you mind me asking what the expected cost of the rebuild is? just curious must be 5k maby more, very brave man knowing it could go tits up before it even hits the road, good luck.

Hats off to u all for just keeping going and going and not knowing when to stop lol. I would of thrown the towel in by now probably and just put a standard lump in and sold it. Its a good job theres peeps around like u Dave who dont do that and have cars that we can all look up to and inspire us to keep going. Good luck with the new build.

I'm pretty sure the clutch won't hold out if you intend launching it with 700hp (with it's associated torque) which may be a good thing as the gearbox and rear diff will have an easier time if it slips off the line. My car runs a larger twin plate that takes up to 750 ft/lb.
