Did you retain the head gasket at all, as it would be intersting to see this as well, to see what damage this sustained.

What are you going to do with the block?

Mike as the head gasket had let go on the first topspeed run and the engine had been subjected to over 8 topspeed runs its not a supprise for the pistons and bore to have had a hard time.

NO the same as mine than as my block and head were both measured for flatness after the failure and were ok.

What an absolute nightmare, I remember reading the thread a couple of weeks ago detailing the lastest rebuild and all the trouble you were having with the gearbox..

I have so much respect for you rebuilding it again, i'd feel like throwing a match at it, so very well done, I hope all goes well next time for you

Im always the mug that trys things first, seriously we have done development work on mine & will have another 2 days on the Dyno soon to push the MAD boundaries a tad further, we are still not anywhere near the limits just trying to find the max horses that still have good response so it can still be called a roadcar. should be over 800 horses this time & for me thats the end of it, I will let youngsters like Dave push it further if they want.

That's a shame to hear, after all that work, and that the joy from the recent figures achieved was short lived. But impressed you've not lost faith and got right back in the game, I can sympathyse with that

unlikely to go tits up with correct block, mine was OK at circa 900bhp for a lot of miles. The failure that Dave & Myself had were down to the Turkish Block, mind you Dave will be over 750 horses now..

Hats off to u all for just keeping going and going and not knowing when to stop lol. I would of thrown the towel in by now probably and just put a standard lump in and sold it. Its a good job theres peeps around like u Dave who dont do that and have cars that we can all look up to and inspire us to keep going. Good luck with the new build.

If Dave is going 750hp he really needs to look at his transmission, clutch & rear diff (if he doesn't have a 9").

I'm pretty sure the clutch won't hold out if you intend launching it with 700hp (with it's associated torque) which may be a good thing as the gearbox and rear diff will have an easier time if it slips off the line. My car runs a larger twin plate that takes up to 750 ft/lb.

Do you know what your car weighs Dave?

It can't be upgraded without changing the unit, It will be fine for your top speed runs but launching it might be a different matter all together.
