Update. Oilsandwich in. Was a hell to fit. No room under the inlet, and with the thermoblock fitted, the oil filter rubbed the enginemount.
This was yesterday, today I fitted a new oilfilter

FMCN.no had a trackday at Vĺlerbanen in norway this sunday.
We, a friend and myself, attended with the is-turbo and had a blast.

First time on track, and with the track soaked in water it was quite a challange. Really good fun all day, and with the new section making the track 3.3km long, everyone seemed to have their hands full.

About half way thru the vid the passangerseat broke, and my mate almost sat in the backseat

End result: Broken headgasket and wobble-brakes. Everything else held up nicely.

Camera didn't have a "backlight" setting, so you can't really see the track in the first heat.

I have been thinking what ECU I should use when I'm getting a turbo to my own OHC. I read that you are using original EEC-IV with extra injectors and that's one way I have been considering, because there is good ECUs for controlling extra injectors available with pretty low prize too. But I have been reading some people having problems with the ignition timing when they are using turbo and Ford's EEC-IV, what is causing "knocking" in the engine.

Is your ignition timing as like it is from factory, or have you done some tweaking to it, to get it adjusted?

TBH I have no idea whatsoever. Since the headgasket gone, I was thinking of upgrading with some bits and pieces

Ok. I have been reading some Finnish Ford Forums and they say that there is some "octane adjust" system in iS Sierras, where there is three different wires and grounding them delays the ignition with 2, 4 or 6 degrees. That's maybe something what I'm looking for. The problem with Ford's EEC-IV is that you can't really manually adjust the base timing of ignition from the distributor itself, ECU always "corrects" the timing to the values it is configured for.

OR... I may also go to Megasquirt.

Well.. If you need a laugh, this is the thread and the day.

Almost done with the head gasket-swap, a mate was about to mount the waterhose under the inletmanifold. And there we found a faulty hose.. just where all the water was fizzing out when it cooked.. when all the water dissapeared... when we thought the head gasket was fu***d..

You'll get the hint, MOST likely not head gasket.. just a waterhose.. Great At least I now got a Gr.a gasket

Dooooone. Tried to fire it up yesterday but the sparkplugs, as you with memory might recall, don't like to stay un-used for weeks like it's been now.

Rushed to work where I used to have a spare-pair(rhyme :P), but my boss had sent them back

I got some original apr6fs, but don't want to start the car just for the starting.. I'm certain that I would've been too tempted to drive it.

So, first thing monday I'm getting a ten-pack ap8fs from work, and will be starting the damn thing up

Yet again, the car is foooked.

After changing about everything, sure felt like it, I finally got it started this morning.

Noticed it didn't pull as it should, but it has always been a bit the first 5min.

After work I drove to a mate of mine, just a few miles.
Car got no power, just jumps like a fuelcut and won't pick up speed. When the turbo finally comes it sounds different, like escaping boost. But haven't checked it with startgas yet.

When I got home, drove took about 5mins or so, it smells like burnt oil. So I popped the hood...

Bright red manifold, exhaust turbine and the first 10cm downpipe.. God damn it was soo hot. Oilsmoke for five mins after it turned back to it's original colour :S

Also got pops and bangs while enginebreaking. See movie. I'm thinking timing, but could it bee so easy ?
(sorry for the bad english. Hope you understand)

Fine! Is this a T3 Garret, isn't it?

Soo... What's happening with this?

What's sad? I just see a lot snow, my car also looks like that sometimes. But doesn't it just mean that clean the snow off and get driving.

What's the plan? It's sad if a good car goes to waste.

Nothing major has happened to it, I just want to change the piston-rings and do a general service, so it's in shape when I up the boost when summer comes

The car itself got a bit of rust, and generally somewhat over the top of it's lifespan, so I will dismiss it for a saph body I get cheap from a mate.

So, all the parts will get refurbed and painted, and boltet on to the saph. New manifold is ordered, inlet is being made and additional intercooler etc. will come in a few months.

I would've driven it, but the lack of proper wintertires gives me no option. And that might not be a bad thing remembering it got a welded diff

Ok, if the body isn't completely rusted I bet it isn't too hard to sell it.

There's nothing what a little bit of welding wouldn't fix.

Do you want to sell the boot spoiler?
Sad to see the mk1 go to waste, but the sapph, although not as nice to look at, is the better car to drive, feels more solid due to the rear bulkhead no doubt.

It isn't rusty, but it doesn't have the front crossmember anymore(cut away) and the mounts for the ARB is messed up. Just some of the reasons

You can have it if I get it off in one piece. It weight's a fricking ton, so don't know what it will cost to send tho.

Totally agreeing with you, my former saph cos. felt so much firmer and ridgit(sp)
And, cosworth rear interior fits without any mods
