We've only been talking cranks, so it will be of no interest to you
.
His car has had major funds thrown at it - in the same league as the big power Cossies, so would cost more to build than you spent on the 3dr you bailed from because the costs were spiralling out of control
.
The 2.5 engines cost £19k EACH and only last 1000 laps and I would hate to guess at what the 2.7 engine is going to cost (the development being done to achieve appears to be in line with what we did with mine)
.
Buy this for £25k? Much lower spec than John's
.

It is a Farndon one, but a heavy duty one that has been fettled, rather than a light-weight one.

Is there any difference in the crank nose itself between the light and heavy ones mike?

None and both the DKE light-weight crank and the Farndon one share identical crank designs around the nose, and both use shortened bolts to allow an additional oil gallery.

Thought that would be the case, fingers crossed that the extra strength in the crank as a whole sends less load to the nose then.

Ditto. Will also be using a lightweight 36-1 pulley as well, instead of the YBP item.

Fpmsl You, hiring out and endurance should not be in the same sentence!
When is the engine going to be ready to put back in then Mike? I assume you won't make Combe unfortunately?

Well considering I'm trying to make Croft this weekend, if it's not ready for that, it will be for Coombe almost for sure

Why did you not just repair the old one? I would have built that up with the TIG and then fettled it back to shape with the dremel. Never would have put my head over your engine bay when it was runnng though.

When I saw the pics of the engine I thought Harvey had worked really quickly!
Really hope to see it hammering round the track at Croft!

Depends if that orange piece of shit doesn't take up all Harvey's time, as he has priority, given that he is flying over from "Sit-on-the-fence-land"
. Would be nice to get them both ready in time
.
Rich,
I heard you might be going, so made my excuses
