Right the engine is away on the 16th for assembly etc so really wanted to crack on today, i got all of the little bit's out of the bay so the short motor is ready to lift out, the mother in law had a heart attack yesterday so the missus has been at the hospital so had to pack up to watch the kids but this is where i'm at, gonna get back on it after and get it sorted tonight.
I also found this whilst taking it apart, the fan wiring and i'm really not happy as i thought i had everything out of the way, i'm soooo annoyed it appeared to be rubbing against the power steering pulley, i'm not paying another Ł70 so i'm going to repair it.
It's so so hard to keep enthusiastic when you come across these issues
Cracking on nicely, wiring ain't so bad really is that a braided fan loom
Yes mate i pulled it out the car earlier and had a closer look, the largest wire is snapped right through and one of the smaller just nicked so i suppose the fans weren't working either seems an easy fix though so i'll sort it one night in the week after work, dust off the old soldering iron
I'm gonna pull the box out first so tomorrow morning i'll remove the trim on the inside ready to lift up and drop down then the engine will just lift out, i wish it was on the two post as i'm not looking forwards to working through the winter the cold driveway
Nothing wrong with the pulley it just shifted position, now it may have been something locking up causing the top to lock and move or it could have been purely the pulley shifting but looking at the condition of the belt i'm sure the contamination didn't do it any good.
I'd be very wary of any adjustable pulley on the market, which is why i went for the peg Quaife type this time, crazy but a part costing Ł100 can wipe an engine out costing ŁŁŁŁ's
Yeh the weathers putting me off doing mine at the mo lol,
So many company's making vernier pulleys but you pay for what ya get, and as you said if its a difference between Ł200 and Ł2k you'd go for the expensive decent parts
Trying to think what make mine are I only took them off the other day lol.
I think mine are iver kent or piper ones m.a.d fitted them I'll look next time I'm in the garage

Glad to see the rebuild is underway Chris. I know how hard it is to stay positive when stuff goes wrong through no fault of your own. The car is stunning and one of if not the nicest 3 3drs out there, so don't give up as it will be worth it in the end.
Would you believe it, my new shiney RL7 wheels are damaged, 3 of the 4 wheels have been dropped on their edge, makes me sick they know exactly what they are and they have done this, regardless to packaging i think it would have busted through anything looking at the damage, the force must have been from at least waist height ale:
Wheel 1
Wheel 2
Wheel 3
They must have rolled them the length of the country
