thanks mate, i want to learn to paint so i can do everything myself, thanks for reading it and the praise

another full day and more progress has been made

so the engine is ready to go in money pit... however first i have to painstakingly strip and label the loom in the RS

doesn't look much but i just have to remove the fuse box and the alarm then i can just cut the loom out of moneypit and carefully install the loom.

heres some pics of the goodies i've removed.

more updates tomorrow

i lost my job when the conversion was complete baring hte wiring so i couldn't afford to insure it (as this is just a toy not my everyday car) so it sat there waiting for me to sort the wiring, so i sold the engine to my friend... now i've bought this RS2000 to get my car moving again so i can have some fun on the track

Some more updates...

sent my powerflex wishbone bushes to Area-6 to be fitted to a set of there camber adjustable lower arms.

Got a Toad Cat 1 fitted, this may cause me some problems if the car looms not quite right :O but i'm hope

Got a load more of the wiring done and tidied up, also put the battery in place just so it felt like progress

took the hubs, coilovers, drop links etc etc off so i could swap the steering racks

took the subframe off to fit the ARB bushes... its neigh on impossible to get the rear bolts without doing so
fitted the RS pas rack while the subfame was off - just realised i didn't take a pic of the new arb bushes i fitted

Got it all back together and fitted an engine mount...

...I've nearly got all the niggly jobs done so the engine installation should be quick and painless, at least thats the plan! i've got a busy weekend with work so i'll be looking to get a full day in on monday and get the engine in, maybe fired up

also i sold my cosworth morrettes a few weeks ago but have had a change of heart and obught some more

Proof I fitted the polybushes yesterday

fitted a new aux belt while the engine was out due to poor clearance when fitted

replaced the rear engine mount as the one on the car was fcuked

was going to ask about these two fuel lines but i figured it out... i hope

got the car jacked right up, slipped the engine under to decide if i'd forgottern anything..
and then without any further thinknig i hoisted it upand bolted it in, everything seems to be working out and all my prep work appears to have done

the trick.

and is it just me or should the engine be sat lower in the bay??

placed the old headlights and the front bumper on the car to remind me what it

looks like.

got the rest of the engine ready to run barring a few auxillery bits and pieces... however its not running because the fuel pump isn't priming... i've got a few wires to identify before the interior loom is complete, i'm going to wonder out to the garage later and get the haynes out

tested out my morettes, and i think they will look the nuts

engine bay: lots of little bits of progress to note

wires :S

first pair are on the drivers side of the dash loom.. fook knows what they are as i didn't label them (fail)
one red one brown with white stripe

this is the door pin switch wire is it not? brown/red

and this the other side one? brown/red

now i think these four wires a re a mjor part of my problem
ones grey with a red stripe
grew white stripe
bright green/turqiose
blue with red stripe

the alarm is wired to the inertia shut off inline with it, the problem i have is the fuel pump wiring is all brown
the loom i'm usiong and the fuse box are all from the same mk5 rs2000 which was a complete running car, only the rear car loom - fuel pump / wiring is original (94 escort) i think i'm five wires away from having it running

i've done some more research and i think its due to the incompatible 5b and 5 wiring... so i'm going to use the mk5 fuel pump wiring, should have it running tomorrow!

Dude, to get the fuel pump working, just splice a feed off the ignition relay, (which I assume is clicking?) then earth the opposite wire to pin 22 on ecu, this should make the fuel relay click when ign comes on. Then run a big fat live from your power block on battery thru fuel relays other axis, straight to the pump. Earth the pump on the chassis.

yeah cheers fella i've had it bridged manually, just wanted to get it work off the key.

right pictures of my fuse box etc:

right turned it over with the fuel pump rigged to 12v and it stil wouldn't run.

am getting 9.3v at the coils while turning it over, so assume its sparking

any thoughts?

Right got some good friends coming round on sunday to help me get the car going and build it back up, so here are a few more bits and bobs i've got recently

First off got my self a helmet for track days so i don't have to pinch my dads anymore
really supprised with the quality given how cheap it was.

Ford lower strut brace - this brings my total strut braces upto 3

Momo race wheel, not cheap but a nice piece of kit and 350mm so not a stupid little wheel reducing accuracy

oh and a boss to go with it

A smooth cossie grill which should finish off the front end of the car

And finally my Area-six lower arms, i don't know which bushes ian usually has fitted but i opted for powerfled ones as thats whats going on the rest of my car and they have a very good rep

oh and found this; made me chuckle

That looks so tidy and quite familiar, RS accessory all the way! Should have the power to match too...

What happened to your cage in the end? I'm looking for something similar for my own MK5a Project but I cant seem to find anything suitable...
