keeping an eye on this thread ; got a 1.3 popular myself on s2 wheels, and it's getting dropped on the weekend. Wanting to do a 1.8 130 bhp conversion so trying to acquire as much info as possible before I go in for the plunge! Looking cool as with recaro's and cage.

i dont think that some of the things he's done look great, such as painting the side walls of the tyres with that pen, but on the other hand at least he's having a go with some things himself and being different, a lot of people probably think its a waste of time that i'v put a dvd player in my car, but its an every day car and im often in a lot of traffic so it passes the time.

jay's escort wont be a propper track car but it should make a half decent fast road car which is wot i think its intended for.

 

i'd love to see this "on track" it will fall apart be really safe with your cut springs will they even let you on?

i prepped all my mates escort and done it all in primer ready for spraying, also i was thinking of doing my escort in matt black but then i had the plans to track it so didnt bother...

Update...

1st off me and my mate (pard off here) got my cage bolted in... (one pic just to give you an idea)



ive cleaned up the inside of the front arches like so...



and cleaned and waxoyl'd the rears...

 

heres a quick pic of the engine thats going in, gave it a clean up with some gunk and nitro morse, then gave it a lick of paint yesterday



and heres a pic of how its sitting earlier..





should be running 2moro...

 

if u need any bits for the mk4 now im selling all mine as got me new car so need the cash for that

lil update...

bit more done on the engine today, got the manifold welded up (was abit funny wernt it phil lol) and got it over to mine, which its on the car now....

phil done some wiring on it aswell, so theres not much left to do now, so hopefully it will be running 2moro, should be but lets hope the weather holds out

also cleaned up and painted some of the rear end and then built it back up...



got some faith in it now that its going to be at central day on the 20th

doubt it nick, soon as ive paid phil etc i need to save up for my holiday so aint going to spending much at all on the scort untill then..

only things im realy looking at next is

adjustable tca's
gaz/avo coilovers

front floor pans!!!!

sure theres other things but there the things il be sorting next and it wont be going on track till they have been done, well not untill the coilovers are on anyway

 

i looked for a drill bit at work on friday but the biggest we got is 10mm.

bob richardson have got one up the thorns road, just past the BP garage, asked while i was in there on saturday.

Did you ever go to ask about those braided hoses Jay?

As your gonna need some if you have left those normal Flexi hoses hanging with all that weight on them

Surely you can be ready for the 10th of may quite easily... will be perfect as a shakedown day to look for any problems with the car

im not sure yet, i might just have the bits sprayed up as theres only the one arch realy...and to be honest its only going to be abused around track...

to be honest i did ring that place for the braided lines, ive brought a set of a chap off here though for a price i couldnt turn down...

like i said above, the car is near enough done for now but i dont realy want to track it untill everythink is done...

question; just dropped my mk 4 scort popular down, prob only about 45mm; just wondering if you do anyhting to yours after you have lowered it? I ask as I am concerned whether the increased camber will mess up my tires quickly! Also, is that an rs 1600 lump or an xr3 engine?

 

9x out of 10 yes otill fuk your camber up, depends if your on chopped springs like jays imo it will fuk more than tyres up if you have chopped them ball joints and wheel bearings etc as all the extra weight in them
