Quick update:
Car is looking nice and subtle, it will staying like this till the engines go in which i have just finsihed speccing, so its time to start buying parts in twos of everything! 'Sleeper' springs to mind Blue side strip for the doors and quarter panels going on too.

On the look out for Escort Cossie wheels though, and its going in for a load of welding this week (extra strengthening and sills etc...)

Thinking about a respray but not totally sure though, its fairly clean and id rather put the money into the engines really

get it resprayed si just make it look tidy, dont plough alot of money into something that wont give you a feeling your driving a smart car. p.s is the parcel tape part of the sleeper look?

Thats where me and you differ Paul, id rather have a 600 bhp twin engined standard looking average XR2i. I couldnt give a fook if it gave me a 'smart car' feeling

New inner and outer seals, load more stregthening and bracing up being done. Picking it up saturday morning and fitting a XR2i engine and running gear as it will lirterally take couple of hours.

Then i can iron out some of the problems with the way the car drives before putting 300bhp up its arse straight away.

Over christmas got some good time off so going to fit the alarm, brakes, new wiring loom and few other things. Coming along...just slowly

Been so busy at work over crimbo havent had much of a chance to do anything, however I now have a week off

Ive swapped one door over (tosser of a job that was!), and put a XR2i engine in for now as it was free. Loom nearly sorted just needs a fuel pump to get it started

Gear linkage works well which is good.

I decided to put a XR2i engine just to get it going and allow me to sort out any problems or iron out any faults before throwing 1 or 2 Zetec Turbo engines in.

Good thing I did, as I got towed to a garage and the car handles like shit, feels really unstable etc...

Luckily it resolves itslef after we tightened the wheels back up and put some weight in it with the engine, meaning its no longer got a load of positve camber which didnt help the dodgy handling. Feels much more stable now

Also put some brakes on it (had no calipers front or back) and also took it to my uncles garage where he welded 2 new inner and outer sills. Its going back for more welding to strengthen the back up and brace it up.

Also booked into the sprayers for a quick blow over end of january so should come back looking reasonably good, which ill be happy with as i aint a bufty

Making an engine cover, sorting throttle cable and mounting hydrulic clutch etc... Got to sort an exhuast as well.

Update at the end of the week when its done

Strange seeing this behind you:

Changing that fooking door:

Hydrulic clutch to go on:

The mint XR2i i stripped ended up like this. Served me well though
