Dracos 2.0 Si - Long Way through the project... PICTURE CRAZY
Guys, not sure how I missed posting this on here! This will be a huge catchup. LOADS OF PICS!!!
The Brief: 01/02/07
Recently Hit a curb when some nob cut me up and bent my hub, suspension, lower arm and track rod end. Oh, and thanks to the S-Brace having bolts left out, and the passenger side subframe being left slightly loose, the whole subframe shifted a bit.
ALL FIXED NOW HOWEVER!
New engine has been sourced, a 75k genuine, FSH, 1 old guy owner, 2.0 Mondeo engine! Runs like a dream! Going in tomorrow to have engine pulled, and then the fiesta should be going in the week or 2 after to have it refitted! Jobs a Good 'Un!
Fitted My Wheels earlier, so am gonna start keeping a log in this post!
My plans for this car: (in no particular order)
Full Interior Retrim in black leather, with orange alcantra/cloth.
Full Outer Respray in Electric Orange
Mk4/5 Black Dash/Doorcards
XR2i skirts and arches smoothed into body
Rear spoiler smoothed into body
Smooth Boot
Lower Cossie Front Splitter
CarPC Fitted
Screen for CarPC moulded into dash
Roll already trimmed arches
Refurb/spray Wheels
Full Badboy Bonnet DONE
Fit Pop Out Rear Windows DONE

Valeted my car today, and as the weather was amazing, thought I would take some pictures!

03/07/07 BODYSHOP DAY 1
Bodyshop Update! In today for the first days work - I did all the stripping down with scubajoe147. Got everything ready. gonna do all the DA'ing tomorrow for painting the shuts etc!

04/07/07 BODYSHOP DAY 2
Day 2 UPDATE!
Got in first thing and found the bonnet had been fixed and prepped!

So, I spent many hours sanding the car, and found the wings were FULL of nearly a quarter inch thick filler - both sides.
so I sanded loads of it down and kept it straight. Ill let the pics do the rest of the talking...
getting there! 2 of the pics show how thick the filler was on the rear quaters, but we ended up sanding most of it away to get the ripples out!
05/07/07 BODYSHOP DAY 3
well, ive done as much as I can! its now down to the bodyshop to do the fillering/spraying. I will go back to do the wet flatting when its painted though. so only half a day today, to do front and vear valances, both bumpers, and a little rust attacking with the grinder :P

Update!
went to the bodyshop for the first time in 5 days
I let the pics tell you what happened.....
all i did all day was wet flat the whole car ready for more paint

I got my baby back.... im so happy i WILL show you pics
im ecstatic with it! got some other wheels lined up for it, 16" mondeo 5-spokes in white, and clear rear lights are lined up too
the wheels i have lined up...

04/11/07 Colour Theme Decision
a quick update! decided on a black and orange theme.
so, new wheels, and tinted windows have been added.
also getting a cossie splitter tomorrow and gonna have that fitted some time.

10/05/08 Dash Upgrade and Heater Box
How odd....
I came out to my car today and found the following....
no idea how it got there :P
now, joking aside...... NEVER AGAIN. I refuse.nadda, nowt. NO.
What a rediculously hard job!
all the wiring still needs doing - and i think an FSi first, I will have to ask for help and advice!
The heater box fitting.... what a pig of a job also! un-friggen-believable! (as as for how to wire that in?! no friggen idea for now)
I did however come up with a bit of a (imo) genius idea. Rather than cut the whole square out for the other part of the heater box, i left a 'flap' as such...
I then re-used the cover from the old heaterbox, and put it over the top to stop any raid getting in:
voila!
Anyways, retrim is also happeing atm, and with FF coming not too far away its all getting going!
Dash is going to be resprayed black, because it has been stored a bit roughly and is marked, and it need to go back to the bodyshop to get the damage from last years FF repaired!
and last but not least, cos I can....

OK! Retrim update!
Took the old seatcoverings off....
then took each panel apart.
next job, the other half measured up and cut out the relevant shape in the orange material we are using...
puppy helped.
more to come later.

will have mk4 doorcards, with the cloth bit trimmed orange also.

bit of a retrim update!
first did a headrest...
then placed the orange bits in their right place for a trial look (also the tob black leather by then :P)....
then finished up the seatbase...

Drivers Seat Finished!!!
Im so happy with the outcome!
before I do the passenger seat, im gonna do the back seats just for a bit of variety

made a start on the back seats, looks nothing like my mockup, but all i can say is wow
again, not yet sewn, only pinned...
back seats are all pinned up ready for sewing....

Nice porject mate. Liking it all except for the full bad boy bonnet. I had a full bad boy when i first got mine, changed to a very slight one which looked much better IMHO . Running a standard bonnet now though as im going back to a more standard look

yea, I have looked and looked time and time again at the bonnet, but I really do like the agressive look of it!If i every get bored with it I will change it, but until that time comes..... :P
