hi guys, i am new to the forums well I am from malta, am 18 years old( this 3rd of august), and finally going to drive in the next months, so what better than a blue oval? to be sincer, I dont know much about engines, mods etc, technical parts. but I am willing to learn. sorry to post my first post here, but i have a question

I am thinking of building a sierra rs cosworth. but a replica, cause i just started working and i dont have lots of budget so, as to build this replica, what model shal i buy. i am thinking of just fitting the cosworth kit for now, cuase i am planning to use it as my daily car, and cant do with the cosworth engine cause of the insurance! so guys, any ideas from well shall i start, what model, how much the kits costs and some mods. any help will be more than welcomed thank u ford lovers

im guessing you mean the 4door sapphire cosworth rather than the 3door original one?

if you want to build a 3door rep its much harder, as 3doors are not so common.
In this country the only ones you normally find apart from Cosworths are 1984-1985 sort of age 1.6L models.

if you want a sapphire (4door) rep its easy, any 4door model can be used.
2litre GLSi are ok, not too slow, cheap insurance, common, etc.

Lower 1.6 and 1.8 models are just as good as a base, just a bit slower.

Can get the 2000E model with leather etc, but are quite rare here, so even rarer in Malta no doubt.

so it is difficlut to find a body kit just like this sierra? maybe if I buy the 1988-85 model, can i bulid the replica on that?

best to go for an origional kit if possible as the fiberglass replica ones are not very good generally, kits come up on ebay on a regular basis but are not cheap-

i think the whole range of sierras came in 3dr models in the rest of europe so finding a car will be the easiest part

 

Hello Ryan,will be a bit harder to find a 3 door kit on the island i expect.
I saw a couple Sapphire Cosworth's in Bugibba last year
Perhaps if you ask around at the drag strip near the airport, someone might be able to point you towards some parts or a part finished project.
There's another user on here from Malta that had a Sapphire Cosworth which he sold to make way for a Mitsubishi Evo i think. He might be able to help you !!

well seeing as I have VERy limited budget , I am opting for a fezzy. I still have to see it cos my mate told me about it. its painted in mondeo red and its a mk3, 18 turbo I think its gonna cost me 2053 eng sterlings. maybe tomorrow or this week I will give it a look
